Gordon Boyd was taken to
Victoria Hospital, London on Fri-
day, having sparthree weeks in
Kincardine Hospital previous to his
transfer.
Mrs. Wellington Webster is a
patient in Wingham Hospital.
Several children have been ab-
sent from school due to severe
colds and flu, plus several cases of
Junior. Public Speaking winners
at Brookside Public School are, left
to right, Gregory Wilson, Gordon
Jamieson, Brenda Henderson and
Jennifer- Drennan.
Card Party
Eight tables enjoyed the euchre
party at St. Augustine Parish Hall.
The prizes were donated by Joe
and Leo Foran and were won by:

BROOKSIDE HAPPENINGS
During thepast . weeks, public
speaking has been the order of the
day at . Brookside. On Tuesday,
March 4, finals were held in the
auditorium for the Junior (Grades.
IV - VI) and Intermediate (Grades
VII VIII) Divisions. Judges for
this event were. Mrs. Olive Blake,
Mrs. S. Ritchie •and Rev. C. R.
IvIcClenaghan.
Grade winners on Tuesday were:
Grade 4 - Gordon Jamieson; Grade
5 - Brenda Henderson; Grade' 6 -
Gregory Wilson; Grade 7 - Lori.
Anne Jamieson; Grade 8 -. Lynn
Elphick.
On Friday, February 7, Brook-
side will be represented at the
Lucknow Legion Finals by Brenda
Henderson, Jennifer Drennan, Lori
Anne Jamieson and Lynn Elphick.
Primary Public Speaking' Contest
will be held in the auditorium for
Grades 1, 2 and / 3 on Friday,
February 28' 'at 9.15 a.m. Parents
are invited to attend.
This week, Sherri Jerome, Grade
8, received word that she had won
Second Prize in the Remembrance
Day Poetry Contest sponsored by
the Lucknow Legion.
DANCE
Now that we are all expert
dancers due to the danceathon, we
are ready for the "Sadie Hawkins"
dance coming up this Friday night.
Everyone is busy, trying to decide
who to' vote for for the Valentines
Queen. The queen will 13,4F chosen
from grades 9, 10, 11. The dance
will be from 9-12, and the music
will be by "Phase". So we hope to
see you all there!

Huron Native
Died At Goderich
JOHN HENRY McDONALD
The death of John Henry Mc-
Donald of Goderich occurred at
Alexandra Marine. and General
Hospital on Wednesday, February
5th, following a brief illness. He
was 85.
He was a son of John McDonald
and Mary Ann Scott and was born '
on the 6th concession of Huron
Township on December 2nd,
1889.
Following his marriage' on .April
7, 1915. to Jennie Dougias, they
farmed" on the 4th concession of
Huron Township until going to
Goderich in 1946 when he became a
Stationary Engineer at Baechler s
Mill.
Mr. McDonald was a member of
* Victoria Street, United Church,
Goderich, and a former Member of
Huron Lodge #62 1.0.0.F.
He is survived by one daughter
and two sons, Douglas of Streets-
ville, Mrs. John (Mary) Fisher of
Lucknow and Grant of London; one
grandson and two great grand-
children.
The funeral and committal serv-
ice, was held at Stiles Funeral
Home, Goderich on Friday, Febru-
ary 7th. Rev. Leonard Warr was
minister.
Interment was at Maitland, Cem-
etery.
TOP CURLERS
Kim Farrell's team captured the
prize for the first five weeks of
after-school curling. Her team
consists of Brian Coiling, Mary
Coiling , and Connie Irwin._
DRAMA
The drama club is really busy
these days because there are only a
couple of weeks left before the
annual drania competitions held
this year , in Hanover.
Ripley Old
Boys- Reunion
Over 25 members of the Ripley
Old Boys Reunion Committee met
Sunday evening in the' Ripley
Huron Central School to make
plans for the August , 1st to 4th
Hoine Coming celebrations.
All conveners—of—the various
committees had been working and
reported on the many plans being
made, program, sports, billeting,
parade, craft festival, advertising
and general reports were fiard.
In.the process of being done is a
historical booklet on the village and
Huron Township. Bob Courtney is
doing a fine job of convening this
and would be pleased to hear of any
special items from any interested
Persons.
Church services are being plan-
ned and will be held On August 3rd
in the High Sehool'auditOrium with.
ReV. Father Don MacLennan, a
Ripleyite, preaching the sermon.,
This will be followed by , a dedica-
tion service at the new recreational
complex.
A pageant on August 2nd,
depicting the early life of the area,
will be held outside, "if weather
permits.
This of course will follow the
Craft Show being staged August
1st and 2ncis.
Many plans are ' going into the
Old Tyme Fiddlers Jamboree,
parade, ball games, dances and
competitions.
During the next few months
several money raising projects are
taking place to finance the big
event. One of which is the Guy
Lombardo. dance in May.

George Young, Heather, Bradley
and Cheryl visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Young and
celebrated Bradley'S fifth birthday.

Ken Young and nephews Marty
and Jamie spent Saturday in
London.
Bible Study was held at the home
of Mr: and Mrs. Jim Young
S'aturday night with ten people in
attendance. Student minisic'r Mr.
Beverley Kay was in charge. The,
next one is to be at the manse in
Whitechurch in two weeks.
The regular card party was held
at Langside Hall Thursday night.

LANGSIDE
Sympathy of the community is
extended to the relatives of Tom
Moffat who passed away in Victoria
Hospital, London on Saturday.
Tom lived all his life af Langside
until he moved to Teeswater about
three months' ago.
Sympathy is also extended to the
relatives of Dave Scott of Lucknow
who'' passed away in. Wingham
Hospital on, Tuesday, February
a 4th. He was member of Langside
Presbyterian Church. . -
