Mrs. Fred Flanagan welcomed
Unit, 4 of the Lucknow United
Church Women tb her home for the
February meeting. Fourteen mem-
bers and one visitor Were present.
Unit leader, Mrs. Leonard Rit-
chie, opened the meeting with a
poern "The Weaver" followed by a
hymn.
Announcements were that the
Presbyterial meeting will be held in
Hanover,' February 28th and the
general 'beefing February 18th.
The Youth Group of our church are
sponsoring. "Cool in the furnace",
a 'Youth Choir from Ripley. Mrs.
Ritchie announced that 50th anniv-
ersary spoons or pins could be
purchased. We received an
invitation from the Presbyterian
Evening Auxiliary td attend their
meeting March 18th.
Mrs. Cliff„ Crawford gave the
financial report. Mrs-. Ernest
Ackert asked for more helpers in
the nursery. Mrs. Ritchie closed
this portion of the meeting with
prayer.
, The program was introduced by
Mrs. Bob Struthers with "A
thought for the month Mrs. Mrs.
Murray 'Henderson read the scrip-
ture from Galatians. Miss Eliza-
beth Ritchie gave the meditation on
self control- and Mrs. Struthers led
in prayer. A hymn was sung,
followed with a reading by 'Mrs.
Murray Henderson on he origin of
Valentine's Day. • Mrs. 'Herb
Barger favoured with an accordian
selection.
Mrs. Bob Struthers introduced
the guest speaker,. Mrs. Ross
Shiells who gave an 'Aspiring
message on "The reason for
living". —
Elizabeth Ritchie thanked Mrs.
Shiells and closed the meeting with
the benediction. A social hour
followed.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Chowan and
Gertrude Lee Walden spent the
week end with. Mr. and Mrs.

Dennis Courtney, Elliott Lowry,

left Saturday for a week's 'holiday
in Acapulco.

4-H CLUB
We held our second meeting at
the home of the leader' Mrs. Gary
Courtney on Tuesday, February 4th
at 7 o'clock. The meeting opened
with the 4-H pledge. The next
meeting will be on February 11th at
7 o'clock at our leader's home. Gail
Messenger demonstrated how to
shape , basic white bread. Mrs.
Gary Courtney discussed bread
techniques. The members discus-.
sed what the club name was to be
and decided on "Dough Daub-
bers". For Home Activity mem-
bers are to make basic white bread
and to bring a piece that they made
to the' next 'meeting.
PURPLE GROVE
A cleaning "bee" was held it
the school on Tuesday to prepare it
for a new coat of , paint and also for
the dance and card party Saturday
night.
Todd Thompson, youngest son of
of Bob and Judy. Thompson, has
been a • patient in Kincardine
Hospital for several days. •
Mr. and -Mrs. Duane Greig and
family of ,Waterloo spent Thursday
and Friday with Mr. and Mrs.
Victor Gawley. Also visiting with
the' 9awleys on Friday 'were Mr.
and Mrs. Barry Johnston and
Lyndon. • . .

Frankie and Suzie spent Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. George Emer-
son and Bob.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Sutton and
family visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Lyman Sutton in Tees-
water.

WHITECHURCH NEWS
Whitechurch U.C.W. held their
monthly meeting February 5 at the
home of Mrs. Russel Chapman
with an attendance of 10.'
Mts. Lorne Durnin opened with a
reading. All sang Unto the hills.
Mrs. George Thompson read ;the
scripture from Genesis 26. She
also gave a thought of the month, A
Walking Christian. The hymn .0
God our help in ages -past, was
'sung.
Mrs. Lorne Durnin gave the
story, We need a solid foundation
and a poem on prayer. The roll call
was answered by , the members
giving a scripture verse with heart.
Mrs. Dave Gibb, treasurer, gave
her report.
Mrs. ',Milian Moore gave the
topic Mission begins with you,
stressing as we speak and act with
others we exhibit a mission atti-
tude. Mrs. McClenaghan read
Luke 10. Mrs. Milian Moore closed
the meeting with prayer. • ;•
