Cheryl Young' returned home
from the Sick Childten's Hospital
on Tuesday where she was a
patient for almost three weeks.
Sandra and Greg Gardner spent
the week end with their grandpar-
ents Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Young.
Dick Orr is spending a feW days
this week in London visiting with
his sister Mr. and Mrs. Oswald
Rudi aikl his brother Jim.
Donald Scott of the sixth conces-
sion of Culross entered his snow,
mobile • in- the snowerama starting
at Mildmay.
We are sorry to report that Peter
de • Boer. is a patient in Wingham
and. District Hospital. We hope he
will soon' be able to return home.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Young
visited with Mr. and. Mrs. Chester
Pinnell at Mildmay on Wednesday
evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Moffat, Mrs. ,a •

Doug Goodfellow visited with Tom
Moffat at the 'Victoria Hospital,
London on Sunday. We are
pleased to hear Tom • is improving.
Mrs. Don Robertson and Liane of
London visited .at Jim Moffat's on
the week end. •
BOX SOCIAL
Several from this district attend-
ed the box social in Whitechurch
staged by the Langside White-
church Young Peoples. A program
consisting of several skits, musical
numbers ' and song, also some
community singing, was presented
after which the decorated boxes
were auctioned off by Brian
Rintoul. The prize for the best
decorated box went to Wendy Kay.
The evening ended with dancing.
It was a successful evening.
John and Dan Martin of Wing-
ham and Don , Wall of Culross
visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Young and family.

Health,• will be in Goderich
February 7 , for a special
public .meeting,
,'The minister plans to
attend the two hour morning
meeting to field questions
from individuals concerned
about, the many propoSals
facing the Ontario health
scene.
One of the main themes
expected to be handled at
the question and answer •
session is the controversial
Mustard. Report. Mr. Miller
• said that more than • 500
letters and briefs have been
presented to the Ontario
, cabinet concerning, the
proposed health plan.
The wide interest the
people in the Goderich area
expressed over the plan
encouraged Mr. Miller to
make the trip. He will be at ,
the Huron County
:''Assessment office from ten
in the morning until noon.
The Huron County Board
of Health' prepared one of
the 500 briefs / mentioned
above and are expected to be
on 'hand at the meeting to
discuss the issue with the
minister. • •

Mrs. Ed.Thom
• Had 930 Birthday
Mrs. Ed Thom of Lucknow
observed her 93rd birthday on
Tuesday, February 4th.
On Monday evening she was
guest of honour at the home of her
daughter Mrs. Stuart Collyer for a
sociaLev_ening with friends.
Mrs. Thom, the former . Rose-
mary Miller, was born in West
Wawanosh Township on February
4th', 1882. She has been a resident
of Lucknow for many years, where
she, lives in one of the Anderson
Apartments. Mr. Thom passed
away in January 1959.
She his four daughters, Mrs,
Cam Thompson and Mrs. Stuart
Collyer, both of Lucknow, Mrs. Ron
lothvvell of Norwood and Mrs. Al
Martin of Long Beach, California;
eight grandchildren, eight great
grandchildren and one sister Mrs.
Wm. Golloher of Norwood. •
Among her cards and letters of
best wishes from . relatives and
friends were 'greetings from Prime
Minister P. E. Trudeati, and a
commemorative plaque from the
province of Ontario presented by
Murray Gaunt M.P.p..

Bruce Keith Is
New Chairman Of
Planning Board
The Bruce County South Plan-
ning Board has elected Bruce
Keith, Reeve of Culross Township,
as chairman for 1975.
Mr. Donald Mercer of South,
ampton was elected vice-chairman
and Mrs. Rose Yuke of Walkerton,
secretary-treasurer.
The board has three new mem-
bers this year, Warden Albert
Worrall of Teeswater, Arthur. Speer
of Tara,, Wilfred Houston of
Greenock and Clifford Hewitt of
Kincardine.
The Ontario Municipal Board
approved the rezoning of '150 acres
adjacent to Southampton for airport
use. Construction, which was
earlier halted, will resume in •the

Th 1 Ontario Ministry of Housing
has given draft approval for a
11.0-u it housing subdivision south
of Gu avus Street, Port Elgin. The
board will recommend to the
minister that approval be granted
for •another proposed Port Elgin
subdivision of 23 residential and
three commercial lots at the south
of town.
Huron Township. Council. has
asked for provincial financing for
acquisition of undeveloped lake-
shore lots at Amberley Beach. The
land would be used • for park
purposes. •
James Powers of Chepstow,
chairman of the Saugeen Conserva-
tion Authority, said that if Huron
Township had joined either the
Saugeen or Maitland authorities
the township could be receiving
75-per-cent provincial financing for
parks.
A proposal fOr a draft plan of
subdivision in Lucknow received
approval in principle by the board,
but it will be recommended that the
number of residential kits be cut to
10 from the 12 proposed;
