guests sat down to dinner in
the church hall following the

received her guests in a pink
/doubleknit regular length
dress with white trim and a
corsage of white carnations.
Her accessories were white.

united in marriage. at St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, Kingsbridge. Per-
. forming the ceremony was
Reverend Father Ed Den-
tinger, pastor • of
.Kingsbridge. .The altar was
decorated with lighted
candles, white mums and
other various potted plants.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr.. and Mrs. Arie Van
Diepen of RR 6', Goderich
and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Legris of.
Exeter, formerly from
Auburn.
Music for the ceremony
was provided by Eugene
Frayne of Kingsbridge and
his daughter, Marianne.
They sang Ave Maria, Our
Father and We've Only Just
Begun. •
• Escorted to the altar by
her father°, the bride chose a
sleeveless wedding gown
made of white polyester
crepe. The gown featured a
princess seamed skirt,
stitched to bodice above
normal waistline with a
stand-up collar and a front
keyhole opening. Over this
she wore a sheer lace hooded
coat which featured woven -
in roses and long sheer
sleeites gathered to four inch ,
cuffs. She carried a bouquet
of white daisy mums, pink
miniature carnations and
baby's breath.
Maid of . honor ,was the
bride's sister, Miss Mary
Van. Diepen.-.She . wore a long
light blue dress which •
featured princess seaming, a
high stand-up collar with
Crochet type lace ,edging
encircling it and long sheer
sleeves gathered • to elastic
with lace edging around the
upper arm.. She carried a
bouquet of ..vhite daisy
mums, pink miniature
carnations and baby's
breath.
Bridesmaids were Miss
Vera • Van Diepen and Miss
Annie Van Diepen,' both
sisters of .the bride. Their
dresses were of the same
light blue material as'
maid of honor'S, buttleatured
square necklines With lace

PETER THOMAS CARTER
• Peter Thomas Carter of 24 Hearn
Street; Guelph, passed away sud-
denly on Wednesflay, "January 29th
at St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph, in
his 80th :year.
He was born at • Owen Sound on
November 23rd, 1895, a son of
Thomas and Annie Carter. •
Mr. Carter was a C.N.R. section
foreman for 30 years retiring
1960. They had been residents of
Guelph since 1950.
Mr. and Mrs. Carter were former
residents of this area and resided
just north of Lucknow at the second
concession.
He is' survived by his wife,' the
former Grace Mead, one son John,
of Holstein and .five daughters,
Mary of Guelph, Mrs. Gunnar
(Eunice) Hokansson of Lobo, Mrs.
John (Eileen) Sabo of Hamilton,
Mrs. Earl (Joy) Chessell of Burling-
ton, Mrs. Lois Lewis of VancoUver;
three brothers Henry of Lucknow,
Richard of Brussels, Frank of
Gitelph and one, sister Mrs. Donald
(Sophia) Strand of Hermiston Ore-
gon; .also 21 grandchildren and 14
great grandchildren. •
He was predeceased by one
sister Mrs. Harry (Essie) Coles and
one brother Edward' Carter.
The funeral service was held at
the Wall-Custance Funeral Home,
Guelph, on Saturday, February 1st.
Rev. Keith Tudor of Norfolk Street
'United Church, 'of which the •
deceased was' a member, conduct-
ed the service.
Interment was in Woodlawn
Cemetery, Guelph.
Pallbearers were Richard His-
bon, John Sabo, Bob Carter, Jeff
Carter, 'Gordon Chadder, and John
Norton. •
accessories were black.
Acting as master of
—ceremonies at the 'dinner
was Jerry Van Beers of
Kinloss.
The reception took place
later that evening at Saltford
Valley Hall.
The bride's travelling
outfit consisted of navy
doubleknit slacks with a
powder-blue long sleeved
blouse and black ac-
cessories. The wedding trip
will follOw in the future.
Wedding .guests were
present from Kitchener,
Exeter, Goderich, Kinloss,
Kincardine; ,Walkerton, Port
Albert, Mildmay, Wingham,
Auburn, Kintail, Dungannon,
Lucknow and Kingsbridge.

ton Webster and Cecil were Mr.
and Mk. Atlee Wise III and
Patricia 'of Ohio.
Mrs. Daisy McCharles passed
away at Huronview on Wednesday
in her 89th year, and this reporter
would be re '.'miss if she didn't
mention how eagerly the local
paper was looked for, even up to
Christmas time and enjoyed by
Mrs. McCharles while in the home
at Huronview. Little does one
know how important are the small
items of news until you are shut in
as she was for so many- years, yet
alert and wanting' so much to be
part of the community. '
How completely selfish we are to
withhold a news item that might be

spending five weeks in Naples,

off from' the outside world. Let us
ever be mindful and remember, we
too may search for names we once
knew and be as alert and bright as
the one who has just passed to her
reward.
