Our best wishes and hopes for a
'speedy recovery go to Mrs. Elmer
Osborne who is a patient in
Kincardine and District Hospital.
Visiting on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Peter Van Sickle and Trevor
were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Munch
and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Van Sickle
of Cambridge. The occasion was
the celebration of Trevor's first
birthday. Happy Birthday!.
Mr. Tas'so Karantonis and, friend
of Toronto spent the week end 'at
the former's farm here.
Mrs. Oscar. White, Mrs. Ted
White and Mrs. Warren Rich of
Wingham visited, with Mrs.... Doug
Moore and baby. in Owen Sound
Hospital, also with Martin McNeil.

Mr. Lockhart stated that the total
sales for 'United Co-operatives of
Ontario this past year was \$230
million, an increase• of 40%' over
the previous year. .8 1/2 million
dollars in net savings is almost
double that of the year before.
U.C.O. declared a 3 3/4 % patronage
dividend on all purchases.
Secretary Evan Keith read the
minutes of the last annual Meeting
of Lucknow District. Croperative.
These were adopted on motion of
Murray Henderson and Grant
Curran.

the financial report of the local
Co-op, commenting on specific
areas of interest and importance.
Sales in 1974 were $1,364,385,
up from $838,349 in 1973, for a
63% increase in gross sales. The
gross margin.was $221,614 in 1974,
up from $125,975 in 1973.

Nominations were received , for
directors on the board. Three
directors retired this year, Evan
Keith, Murray Hender§on and
Terry Dalton. Evan and 'Murray
were not 'eligible for- re-election.
having. completed two consecutive
terms on the board. Terry was
eligible for re-election.
Nominations received were:
Terry Dalton by Blake Alton;
Harvey Culbert by Frank Pentland;
Francis Boyle by Ken Alton; Doug •
Cameron by ,Gordon Finlayson.
Nominations 'were closed. Terry
Dalton and Harvey Culbert were
'elected by acclamation, the Other
two men, having declined.
Nominations were re-opened for
the 1 vacancy still existing.
Nominated were: '
Harvey Ritchie by Warren Zinn;
Jim Gibson by Leo: Mtirray; J. C.
Drennan by Grant Farrish; Austin
Martin ,by Grant MacDonald; Don
Alton by Doug CarnerOn; Walter
Elliott by Evan Keith; Jim Gibson,
' Austin Martin and Don Alton stood
for election. The other three men
declined.' . ' •
Stuart ReaVie and Stewart Lock-
hart were appointed scrutineers for
the election which followed. Austin
Martin was elected.
• The:three new directors, for a
three , year term, are Terry Dalton,
Harvey Culbert and Austin Martin.
The, other directors,. with further
terms of office to serve, are Bill
Andrew, Jack Alton, Merle Gunby,
Albert Taylor, Blake Alton and
Charles Wilkins.
Merle Gunby, on behalf of the
board, exnressed thanks to retiring
..directors Evan Keith and Murray
Henderson.
Terry Dalton reported on the
United Co-operatives of Ontario
annual meeting in Toronto.•
Door prizes were won by Doug
Martyn and Mrs. Francis Boyle and
the most tolerant customer of the
year award went to Mrs. Don
Curran. William Humphrey, 81,
received a prize for the oldest
person at the meeting:

band Ray; Dorothy Atkinson and
husband Glenn; Bill Searle and
wife' joinne; Gerry Wagner and
wife Eileen; Fred Ward; Lou

Doug Tiffin and wife Brenda;
Anthony Featherstone.

Net savings for the year were
$82,355 as compared to the'$12,468
figure in 1973.
Mr. Crawford explaineCPtikt4art
of:the $528,000 increase in sales for
the year could be contributed 'to
'inflationary trends, but that a good
portion was solid uninflated
growth.- Hefestimated the uninflat-
ed increaseNat about $275,000.
He said fertilizer had grown
sharply, up about 1200 tons; seed
corn up about '350 units; chemical'
sales up about 1600 times, mainly
for bean and corn spray; feed is up
20% in tonage and store sales were
'up $90,000. He referred to the fact
that as the 'sales increase, so
increases the costs. He expressed
his thanks to the directors, staff
and patrons.
Mr. Crawford presided for a,
question period from the floor.
President Bill Andrew spoke 'Of
the growth of the local Co-op
diming the year and commented on
portions of his printed report which
appeared in the financial state-
ment.
The patronagereturn announced
for the year was 1% payable 'in
cash and- 2% deferred and trans-
ferred to loan certificates.
The financial report was adopted
on , a motion of George Moncrief
and J. C. Drennan.
G. H. Ward and Co. were'
appointed auditors once again on
motion of Don Alton and Grant
Farrish.
