Leanne Short of Woodstock spent the last 2 1/2 weeks with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Jamieson, Cathy and Glenda, while her• mother, Mis. Art Short was hospitalized following surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Nixon of Belfast visited last Friday with his sister Mrs. 'John Emerson at Wingham and District Hospital. , Mrs. George Lockhart of Luck-• now has returned home . from Wingham and District Hospital, where she was a patient for almost eight weekS. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Eckenswiller and Mr. and Mrs. Weir Eckenswil- ler spent Wednesday evening last with Mr. and Mrs. Bill MacPher- son, Holyrood. Tom Rathwell, who is attending college in England, was home for several days last week at the time of the sudden death of his mother„ Mrs. Gerald Rathwell of Lucknow. - He will return to England this week. Joe MacMillan of Lucknow is home after ten days in VVinghani and District Hospital. The Lucknow Women's Institute will meet in the Town Hall on Tuesday, February 11th at 1.15 ,p.m. Guest speaker will be Mrs. Warren Zinn. Mr. and Mrs. William Htfmph- rey, Lucknow, and Mrs. Barry Haldenby and Tanya -of R. •R. 1 Holyrood visited a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Nugent and Scott of St. Thomas. Mr. and,Mrs.•Delbert Nixon and girls of Stratford visited on Sunday with Mrs. John Emerson in Wing- ham and District Hospital and with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Isaac,. Nixon, Belfast; Cyril Campbell 'of Lucknow is a patient in Witigham and District Hospital. Treat Injuries At Hospital Glenn Walker, R. R. 3 Wing- ham, injured his left h'and, while riding a snowmobile on concession 10, East Wawanosh on January 22. He was treated and released at Wingham Hospital. 'Investigated by Wingham O.P.P. Jameson. Mrs. Melita Edwards, R. R. 2 Holyrood, was driving a snowmo- bile January 27 1/2 • mile from Riversdale and went over _a steep bank and the machine upset. She received treatment for head injur- ies and was then released from Wingham Hospital. Investigated by Walkerton O.P.P. Win In Legion Speaking Contest On Saturday Teeswater and CulrosS was well represented at the. Legion Public Speaking Contest at Wingham on Saturday. In the- Senior elementary divi- sion, Frank Leahy of Teeswater Separate School, son of ,Dr. and Mrs. P. J. Leahy, Teeswater, placed first and Donna Ballagh of Teeswater Hillcrest School, daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Ballagh, Culross, second, in a class of 5 contestants. There were also 5 contestants in the Junior elementary class in which Gary Van Beers of the Separate School, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry . Van Beers of Kinloss, placed first with Tom White of Hillcrest School:, son of Mr. and' Mrs. Norman White, Culross, in Second place. In the Junior secondary school class, Ken de Boer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. de Boer, R. R. 1 Lucknow, was the winner. Ken is a Grade 10 student at F. E. Madill Secondary School. In the Senior -secondary school class the winner wa..4 Mary Edith Garniss of the Winghant area, a student' at F. E. Madill. Dungannon Lady Had 95th Birthday DUNGANNON NEWS Mrs. Minnie Jones celebrated her 95th birthday, on January 21 quietly at home. Several neigh- bouns called with 'best wishes .and phone calls and telegrams -were received 'from relatives afar. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McWhinney returned last week from a month in Florida during which they visited Tampa, St. Petersburg, Miami and toured the southern part of the state. They report they had. •a wonderful holiday with only one 'day of inclement weather. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Sherwood Motored' to Sarnia on Friday evening to attend the wedding of their son Robert to Miss Claudette Primeau. Congratulations to the newlyweds. Stothers. Mr. and Mrs. Wooltord were recently married -and- have just returned from a honeymoon in the South. Due to icy conditions on gravel roads there were no buses running to Brookside school 'last Wednes- day. Most of the teachers were able to get to school by the highway and pat- in a day 'of preparatory work. Week end visitors with Mrs. Mary • Bere were Gerald, from Fanshawe College, London;. Mr. and Mrs. John Bere and' Karen, London; and Mr. and• Mrs. R. D. Aldham, -Johnny, Greg and Larissa of Goderich. Steve Caesar, Lindsay spent the week end with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jack Caesar and. Jan, and his grandmother, Mrs. W. A. Stewart. The subject of Rev. R. C. McClenaghan's sermon was, "Let's Talk About God" and for the next few Sundays he will continue to discuss points of particular interest to Communi- cants class. A beautiful flower, arrangement was placed in the church for the Sunday service by the family of the late Heber J.L. Eedy. who died a year ago now.' Communicants class met in the church on Sunday evening. Mrs. Melinda Nivins of Clinton spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Errington. L.O.L. 324 held a card party on Friday night with seven tables filled. Ladies •high prize was won by Mrs. Walter Alton, Lucknow; ladies second prize; Mrs. Mary Rivett, Goderich. Men's high prize went to Jack Errington and metcs second prize to Wm. Caesar. . The Cemetery Board met at the home of Mrs. Elma Reed on Saturday evening with sevim mein- bets present.
