Police have been unable to find his assailants or determine a reason for the action. Mr. Baillie was returning to his home, from the Walkerton Curling Club, a half mile west of Walker- ton, when a pickup truck overtook him and stopped him on the road. One of the occupants of the truck walked back to the car and struck Mr. Baillie; who was alone in his vehicle. The man then, pulled Mr.• Baillie from his car and continued the attack, breaking teeth and glasses as well as inflicting face injuries,, When' Mr. Baillie tried .to get the licence number of the truck, he was kicked in the groin. The meeting' was opened by repeating the Opening Ode and. Mary Stewart Collect. Nancy Brown read the cones, pondence and if 'was discussed. The election of officers was held with the following slate: President, June • Alton; 1st Vice President, Elaine Whitby;° Past Presideni, Mary Nelson; Secretary- Treasurer, Nancy Brown; Public Relations Officer and, Director, Elizabeth Ritchie. Fourteen members answered the roll call which was the paying of membership fees. Quite a number of interested members of the com- munity gathered at the Centre and had an informal game of cards. Mrs. 'Wm.- Arnold• gave small prizes to Mrs. Don Robertson, Victor Gawley and Mrs. George Emerson. The business session was con- ducted by Don Reid and Mrs. Francis Boyle. Bob Emerson gave the treasurer's report. The Centre had been used by several groups for Reunions and community part- ies as well as 4-H Clubs and Junior Farmers. Rates • were set at the same charge as the previous year, $10 for most events, 4-H free and Junior. Farmers a donation. Having to pay over $100 taxes tutes of Ontario board of director's meeting in. Toronto were members from Grey and Bruce Counties. They were, left to right, Mrs. Graham Chambers, R. R. 1, each year has proved' a hardship since this building is not meant as a money-making place and all help given has been much appreciated. Mrs. Howard Thompson reported that a supper had been served retently and proceeds were being turned over to the Centre funds. Mrs. Don Robertson will see 'if the piano can be put into better condition. Don Robertson and• Morley Scott will plan a money- raising event for mid-February. They will be assisted by their wives. The need for improving the walls was discussed and the men of the committee will investigate possibil- ities. The committee for 1975 will be Don Reid, Roy Collins, Mrs. Francis Boyle, Bob Emerson, Bob Thompson and a new member, Mrs. Don Robertson: Bob Thomp- son will be chairman, Mrs. Boyle the secretary and Bob Emerson the treasurer. Each family may be asked to pay for a wall panel. A bounteous lunch and a period of good fellowship completed the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Carter, Wingham, are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their youngest daughter,. Frances Ail- een, to Mr. Bryan Charles Brebner, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Brebner, R. R. 1 Wingham. The wedding will take place on, Satur- day, March 1st, 1975, at 3 p.m. in St. Paul's anglican Church, Wing- ham, Ontario. For the guest speaker we had Hanna Feld from Moorefield speak and demonstrate how to decorate cakes for special occasions. Then the members and guests had a try at decorating cupcakes. She returned home on Thursday of last week, 10 days after undergoing surgery and 12 days after suffering an' accident at her, home. Mrs. Reed fractured her hip and elbow when a gust Of wind blew her out her front.-kw and onto 'a cement sidewalk. She was found by a passing motorist, Warren Zinn. Mrs. Reed was scheduled to be transferred from University Hosp- ital, London to Wingham Hospital last week, but lack of bed space at Wingham resulted in Mrs Reed arriving home sooner than expect- - ed. She is up and about the house each day using one' crutch. THAT Bob Greer and Jamie Elliott of Lucknovir and Bill Sissler Of Sarnia leave on Thursday of this week from Toronto airport for a two week holiday on the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean. decorated Valentine cake which was won• by Mrs. Elsie Houston.
