Annual Meeting
Held At Ashfield
Presbyterian
Church Last Week
The annual meeting of the
congregation Of Ashfield Presby-'
terian church was held in the
Sunday school room•of the church
on Thursday, January '23rd at 2
Rev. James Weir, Interim Mod-
erator of Kincardine, presided and
opened the meeting, by scripture
reading from Isaiah 49 with the
theme, "Be servants of God and
missionaries to the people", fol-
lowed by prayer.
Minutes of the last annual
meeting were read by the secret-
ary, Mrs. Henry MacKenzie. A
motion was moved to have the
budget allocation be $900.00 for
19752
The three managers, Duncan
Fairish, Jack MacKenzie and Jim
West were re-elected for a three
year term.
Bill Ross, clerk of session,
submitted the following report: the
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper
was held four times; the Sacrament
of Baptism was administered to
four children; three joined the
church by certificate. There were
three weddings.
The church's 126th anniversary
was celebrated in June with Rev.
Weir as guest speaker. The
Sabbath School was reporte,,d on by
Mrs. Warren Wylds. There are
forty-three 'children on the attend-
ance roll. All the secretaries and
financial secretary reported a very
successful year.
The members who serve on the
Session are as follows: Clerk of
Session, Bill Ross; Gordon Robb,
Duncan Allan, Earl Howes, Ewan
MacLean, Grant Fairish, Finlay
MacDonald, Duncan Simpson. ,
The members who serve on
Board of Managers are as follows:
Duncan Farrish, Jack MacKenzie,
Jim West, Mrs. Donald Simpson,
Mrs. Allan MacDonald, George
Moncrief, Duncan Allan, Jim Mac-
Kenzie and Mrs. Stuart MaLennan.
Rev. Weir expressed thanks to
the caretaker Mrs. Richard West,
the Budget and Financial Secret-
ary, Mrs. Ewan MacLean, Church
organist Mrs. Duncan Simpson and
to all who carry on the work in
Ashfield Presbyterian Church to
make a successful year.

The annual congregational meet-
ing of Lucknow Presbyterian
Church was held in the Church Hall
on Thursday, January 23 at 8 plm.
The meeting, was opened with
prayer. Rev. Glenn Noble was
appointed chairman and Tony
Johnstone, secretary. Reports
from ' the Session, the Sunday
School, the Board of Managers,' the
Women's Missionary Society, the
CGIT and the financial statements
Were received and considered.,
The Board of Managers has had
considerable work in the planning
and oversight of repairs to the
Church Tower. ,
There are eight girls from the
Presbyterian Church involved in
the CGIT. group. ,
Several members of the Wom-
en's Missionary Society received
special recognition in their report.
Miss Nellie Malcolm received a life
`membership pin. Mrs. Noble
Johnston and Miss Margaret Mal-
colm received a life membership
certificate. Mrs. Morgan Hender-
son was made an Honorary Life
Member of the Maitland; resbyter-
ial and receivedm membership pin.
Mrs. James Smith received an
Honorary Life Membership. Certif-
icate and pin.
After the reports were adopted,
the Trustees: Gordon Fisher, Vird-
en Mowbray, James R. Henderson
and Wallace Wilson were re- .
appointed. Mrs. George McInnes
and Tony Johnstone were re-
instated as Envelope Secretary and
Church Treasurer respectively.
William Ross and Max Bushell
were appointed to the Board of
Managers for a • three year term.
The meeting closed with prayer by
the chairman.
Evening Auxiliary
The Evening Auxiliary, of the
Lucknow 'Presbyterian Church held
their January meeting .in the
fellowship room of the church.
Mrs. Virden Mowbray, presid-
ent, in charge opened the meeting
with the hymn "Standing at the
Portal" followed by prayer by Mrs.
Mowbray.
The minutes of the last meeting
were read and correspondence was
'dealt with. The group agreed to
sponsor ,our adopted boy for
another year.. An invitation from
the ladies of St. Andrew's Presby-
terian in Wingharn to be their
guests at a display .of Centennial
banners, was read.
Mrs. Frank Hawthorne gave the
worship service.
Mrs. Donalda Scott and Miss
Mary Ellen HaVen played a driet on
the piano.
The topic from the study book •
"Unknown Country" was given by
Mrs. Ena Henderson.
Mrs. James Little gave a report
of the Presbyterial held in Walker-
ton on Monday, January 20. Mrs.
Wm. Ross gaVe a summary of the
Glad Tidings for January.
Hymn 95 was sung followed by a
closing prayer. A social hour was
held with Mrs. Donalda Scott and
Mrs. Lloyd MOffit in charge.
One in every seven adults suffers
some physical disability. One
million \in Ontario alone. Support
the March of Dimes Ability Fund so
that it can continue to provide
service to make life better for the
handicapped.

Church Annual
Meeting On Sunday
The annual congregational meet-
ing of , the Lucknow United Church
was held following the Sunday
morning service at the church.
Rev. Doug Kaufman acted as
chairman. The meeting followed a
pot luck lunch.
Elected to the Board of Stewards
for a five 'year term. were Jack
Treleaven and Gerald Priestap,
Session members elected for a
five , year period include Mrs.
George Newbold, Mrs. Bert Alton,
Walter Dexter, Mel Morrison,
Andy Ritchie and Stuart Reavie.
Total church membership is 473,
of which '369 are resident.
Households under pastoral care are
238 and persons under pastoral
care are 653.
Memorials, bequests and special
gift to the church during the year
included a bequest of $1000
towards remodelling• the front
entrance of the church from Mrs.
Norma Anderson; a bequest of
$100 from Mrs. Janet Mills to the
general fund; a memorial stained
glass window hi the' front entrance
in memory_of Mrs. Norma Ander-
son by her husband W. B.
Anderson;• a gift of two front doors
from the United Church Women
from bequest of Miss Elizabeth
Murdie; a gift of library table to
church parlour from U.C.W. from
bequest of Miss Susan Gibson.
Reports were heard from all
divisions of church work, from the
Pastor, the United Church Women,
Sunday School, Canadian Girls in
Training, Youth Group, Choir,
Mission and Service Fund and
Church Treasurer.
During the year a major renova-'
tion program was carried out at the
front of the chtirch when a new
entrance was constructed.
Church treasurer is. Clarence
Greer.. Mel Morrison is recording
secretary. Ernest Ackert is Clerk of
session and Jack Treleaven is
chairman of the committee of
stewards. Mrs. Mildred Cameron
is secretary of the committee of
stewards and Mrs. Marie Greer is
envelope secretary.
Board of Trustees are Gordon.

and W. B. Anderson.

Whitechurch Women's Mission-
ary Society held their meeting
January 22 at ,2 p.m. at the home of
Mrs. Wallace Milligan.
The president Mrs. Bill Rintoul
gave the call to worship, a New
Year's Thoiight, followed ' by a
hymn. Mrs. Gordon. Rintoul' gave a
New Year's prayer.
Mrs. Rintoul extended a warm
welcome to all and thanked the
program committee for their work.
The scripture was read by Mrs.
Gordon Rintoul and Mrs. Bill
Puidon gave the meditation "A
New Year Adventure- of Faith".
Mrs. Wallafe Conn gave a New
Year's reading.
The roll call was answered by 16
giving a New Year's verse and little
Brian Ross was present. Thanks
for cards was received from Misses
Anne and Mary Laidlaw. An
invitation was received from Wing-
ham to be guests) to see the
Centennial Banners February 25,
27. They have 34 banners chosen
from 300 on display.
The allocation for this year is
$300. Mrs. Victor Emerson was
appointed to write historical items
arid send to Mrs. Henry MacKen-
zie or the assistant Mrs. Gordon
Wall. The World Day of Prayer is
the first Friday in March, when the
Presbyterian group will be respon-
sible for the speaker.

is Mrs. Dawson Craig. Mrs. V..
Emerson and Mrs. John de Boer.
The program committee is Mrs.
Wesley Tiffin,. Mrs. Wallace Milli-
gan and Mrs. Bill Rintoul. • The
W . M. S purchased books to be
used by the C.O.C. leaders, The
February meeting will be' held' at
the home of Mrs. Wesley Tiffin..
The offering was received by
Brian Ross and dedicated' by MrS.
Wallace Conn. It was decided to ,
purchase gifts for those who have
moved from the comniunity. Mrs.
Victor Emerson gave a New Year's
reading.
Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw gave the
topic "New Years". The old year
is now a memory. The first of the
year is the ne to start ?afresh, as
we have much to do and to know
what we shall do with the New
Year. During lives there comes
times when the Valley of Shadow
must be travelled' as our Saviour
knew He had to travel through the
Valley Of Shadows, and she closed
with a New Year's poem.
Mrs. Don Ross gave a reading, A
New Year Lies Ahead. Mrs. Wes-
ley Tiffin closed the .meeting with
prayer.
The Ladies Aid meeting was held
with Brian Ross receiving the
collection. 'Mrs. Milligan then
presented the society with two-
boxes of samples of suit patches
and a discussion followed on how to
use 'them.
Grace was sung. The hostess
served lunch and a social time was
enjoyed by all.
