Nip Ferg 10 - In Friday Game, Return Match Here BY DOUG EADIE One hundred_. percent effort by everyone on the Lucknow •team proved that they could beat the best in, the league,, both 'physically' and with skill. Understaffed with ,only two lines, four defencemen and no backup goalie', Lucknow flouriced the Fergus Flyers. 10-7. pit was a see-saw, battle with.. Fergus opening the scoring, only to' have Doug Stevenson, 'assisted by Ken "Roar" Houston, tie it 1-1. Again Fergus, with a quick break- ing goal, went ahead and back came "Go-fast" Etnberlin assisted by Jim Murray. Fergus charged back to make it 3-2 with Dave MacKinnon tying it from Jim Mur- ray and Paul Frayne 3-3 in the final 'minutes of the first period. This type 'of "never give up" play set the stage for the 2nd period and for the 1st' time in the game Lucknow took the lead on an unassisted goal by, Jim Murray through sheer determination. Then 'Eyes" Prayne, from Stevenson, made it 5-3, and now FergUs was worried. In the 3rd period Lucknow never looked back as the "Peewee" line led 'by "Fearless" MacKinnon completely Overpowered the falter- ing Flyers. MacKinnon scored unassisted followed by Jim Murray from MacKinnon , and Emberlin; MacKinnon 'again from Jim Mur- ray; and then. Brian Boyle, who hustled the whole game, scored unassisted. Finally, Dave MacKinnon, from John Emberlin, finished Lucknow's scoring and "finished" the so- called "tough" Fergus Flyers. They' have some excellent "meat choppers" on their team if Gary Sutton would be ,interested in interviewing some of them . this Friday night in Lucknow for a -job on his staff. Terry Taylor played a steady, alert game-'in goal against some of the sharpest shooters in the league and deserves a lot 'of credit. Ross Moffat, patrolled his wing with his usual thoroughness and very little • Fergus scoring occurred while they kept wonder- ing who was next on the list for a crunch. The final score was Lucknow 10 and Fergus 7. Fergus comes to Lucknow .this Friday, January 31 seeking revenge. Lucknow is just . as determined to keep the winning streak going. Come and see it!
