BROWN RIPLEY DISTRICT SCHOOL DANCE-A-THON If you ' happen to be driving through 'Ripley this week end between the hours of.8.00 p.m.' on Friday and a.00 p.m. Saturday, ,niake sure you drop in at the high school and give your support to the students of our school as they dance 'for 24 hours. We have had lots of support so far in that we have got chaperones for every hour of the 24 hour event. The adMission for the dance-a-thon will be. 50c per person. , The entire proceeds will, be donated to the Ripley-Huron Recreation Complex. Students Council are busy arrang- ing for the food and getting volunteers to h4 serve. Come out and show your Community Spirit! DARWIN POLLOCK BONSPIEL Those planning on taking part in this bonspiel should be making up their teams because the sheets will be put up this week sometime. The bonspiel 'takes place on February 1st here in Ripley at the curling rink. Exams start on Wednesday and it is also Susan,. Carter's birthday. The marriage, of Carol Afin :Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Brown of Lucknow ands. Graham Ellis Devitt of Kitchener', son of Mr. and Mrs. 'Homer Devitt, R. R. 4 Kincardine, took .place on Saturday, NeVember 23rd at four o'clock, in Lucknow Presbyterian Church. Lighted pink and white 'tapered candles in gold candelabra adorned with white and varying shades of pink carnations, baby's breath and emerald greenery, illuminated the front of the church. Rev. Glenn Noble of Lucknow officiated at the double ring ceremony. Given in. marriage by her par- ents, the bride wore a, portrait gown of treviera ,erystalette with demure high waistline, high Victor- ian neckline and' a double ruffle trimming the bodice. The gown featured a deep double ruffle around the hemline and full princess sleeves ruffled at the wrist. Rows of alencon lace and daisies adorned bodice, hemline and sleeves. A' Juliette cap trimmed -with tiny flowers held ter four tier pure silk illusion veil trimmed, with , same daisies as trimmed her dresS.' She carried a bouquet of white and pink roses, white and pink carnations and .baby's breath, tied with long pink velvet streamers to which pink sweetheart roses we're attached. ,, Miss Jane Brown, Brantford, friend of the bride, was maid of honour. She wore a sleeveless gown of pink Swiss dot organza, featuring a double ruffle around hemline similar to the bride's and adOrned with pink daisies. • A. matching 'pink Cape complimented her outfit. She were a pink picture hat trimmed with pink velvet ribbon . similar to that on her bouquet. Her flowers" were white and 'pink roses, carnations and baby's breath. Bridesmaids ,were Mrs. Nancy Brown of LucknOw and Miss Lavonne Devitt, R. R. 4 Kincard- ine. They were similarly attired. as the. maid of honour and carried similar flower bouquets. Blake Devitt of R. R. 2 Ripley was grOOMS11Tail. - Ushers were Edward Brown of Lucknow and Bradley Devitt, 4 Kincardine. . The groom wore a grey Windsor tuxedo, white ruffled shirt and grey bow tie. His attendants were similarly attired, but chose' pink ruffled shirts, 'Mrs. Donalda Scott, Lucknow, was organist: Mrs. Nancy Brown, Lucknow was soloist and sang "More" and "Walk Hand • in Hand". A reception followed at the Lucknow Legion Hall, Which. was decorated with. gold candelabra adorned with pink and white carnations and pink Land white streamers ending in wedding bells.. The bride's table , featured a wedding cake trimmed in pink, a parasol and two engraved silver` wine goblets tied with lily-of-the- valley and white ribbon. The bride's mother wore .a long sleeve floor-length floral organza gown in shades of yellow, bronze and orange which featured a V neckline. She wore gold accessor- ieS • with corsage of yellow mums edged with bronze mums. The groom's mother wore 'a sleeveless floor-length floral organ- za gown with matching floor-length .coat in shades of bronze and yellow with gold accessories and corsage of bronze mums edged with yellow mums. The bride's maternal grand- mother wore a long sleeved fleet.- length jersey gown in shades of bronze, orange and ,yellow with gold accessories and corsage of yellow and bronze mums. For travelling the bride chose a brown pantsuit with brown -acces- sories and wore a corsage of yellow sweetheart 'roses. The couple are residing in Kitchener. The bride was formerly' employed in business with her • father in Lucknow. Prior to her marriage the bride was honoured at several showers. The groom's mother hosted a relative showier in Kitchener; Mrs. Ross. Shiells of Lucknow entertain- ed at a get together .miscellaneous shower at her home; relatives attended a bridal shower given by Mrs: Nancy Brown; Miss Jean Brown honoured the bride at a girlfriend shower at her hOme; and a community shower was held at the Lucknow Presbyterian Church. FOr adults with a physical disability, there exist few recrea- tional or holiday opportunities in . Ontario. So the March of Dienes now operates special camps •rinring . the summer where handicapped 'adults can ejoy a vacation. This is only made possible by yoUr gener- ous support Of the March of Dimes Ability Fund, • Murray Waldew and boys. Amberley Orange Lodge held a euchre on Friday night with the high prizes going to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Campbell. Lynn Lowry 'got the lucky prize. Mr. and Mrs. Len Reid and Mr. and Mrs. Deb Wilson were on the lunch committee. Friends wish Gordon Boyd a speedy recovery from his illness.
