Lucknow Atoms defeated Ripley
1-0 in a hockey game here Monday.
Arthur Clark from Lance Sander-
son and David Gibson were the
Lucknow marksmen.

Hockey Results
. On January 18th, in the first •
game, the Can ticks defeated the
Flyers 7 to 3. •Richard Jurjens with
a hat trick, Wayne MCDonagh with
a pair, and Shawn Drennan and
Kevin Clark added singles for the
Canucks. David Edisbury with a
pair and Mark Gunter tallied for
the Flyers. •
In the second game the Islanders
whitewashed the Kings 11 to 0.
Bernie Burgsma led,the attack with
4 goals. Other goal scorers for the •
Islanders were Jim Foran 2, rat
Foran, Joe Boyle, Hugh Burgsma,
• Jim Hawthorne and Allan Rivett.
Scott Rivett registered the shut out.
In the third game the Sabres shut
out the Seals 5 to O. Johdflusk had
a hat trick with John O'Keefe arid
Ken Atkinson adding singles.
Mike Frayne was credited with the
Shut ,out.

Juveniles Play
In Mooretown
Tournament
Lucknow Juvenile Hockey Club
had a tiresome hockey week end
and dropped two dose games in a
three-garnet week end.
On Friday night they went to
Mooretovvn near Sarnia and played
in the • Silver Stick Tournament.
The game started at midnight with
Lucknow defeating Cottam 5-2.
Staying overnight there, the
second game for Lucknow was at 5
p.m. Saturday when they last a 2-1
game to Dorchester.
Back in Lucknow Sunday, List-
owel edged the Sepoys 4-3' in
another close contest. Scorers for
Lucknow were Kevin Murray, 1
goal, 1 assist; Stewart Mann and
Ken Reid, 1 goal ' each; Ian
'Montgomery and Bob McGillivray,
1 assist each.
Ripley Juvs Split
Weekend Games
The Ripley Juvenile hockey
squad split their games on the
week-end with a loss and a win.,
After a bad game Saturday night in
Mount Forest, where they lost 10 -
0, they bounced back on Sunday
to defeat Chesley Juveniles 19 - 8.
David MacDonald led the scoring
with 5 goals, while Danny Walden,

successful invitation bonspiel .a
week ago Monday. Bernice Moore
of the' Goderich club skipped her
way to victory and took home the
George IvkDOnald Trophy. Bernice
had able assistance from LOis
Vanstone, Vicki Culbert and Barb-,
•ara Hawkins, in piling up a score Of
thirty points, Jean WyldS, of the
local club curling with' Marie
MacDonald; Gladys Nicholson and
Joyce Courtney took second for the
day with twenty-nine points.
Second place finishers were Jane
West of the Ripley club with-Jean y
Coiling, Hilda Andrew and Lois
Pollock; and Marie Coiling on the
late draw curling • with Marlene
Coiling, Mary McMichael and
Nancy Regier. Phil Durst of
Goderich, with Eleanor Fisher, Sue
White and Betty Moore took the
third spot on the early draw; while
Sharon Courtney of the locals, with
Mary Walden, Aitarg -Rouse and
Ursula Burnett came third on the
late draw. The consolaticin winners •
went to two Kincardine entries
skipped hy, Sandra Turvill and
Mary Hahn. Other entries finish-
ing out of the money 'were those of
Shirley Lamont of Teeswater, Ciel
Picot of Kincardine, Doris Walden
of Wingham and Diane. Brooks of
Ripley. Winners of kicky draws
were JesSie" Bates of Teeswater,
and Terry MacKenzie and. Ey
Coiling of Ripley. ,Ladies president

assisted in any way.

The International bonspiel of. the
Mens' club ran into plant difficul-
ties on Saturday last. Andy Ritskes
worked for the most of 'the day to
repair the compressor unit, but a
bearing caused the cancellatiOn of
the event' with only two games
completed on each draw. 'The 1
and '3 o'clock draws were complet-
ed in Kincardine and the Ripley
Club is most appreciative of having
the ice available for the afternoon.

ers and Kenny H. MacKenzie.

Elliott's rink curling with Mervin

Greg "Liddle anth Rick Smith each
got three. Courtney Liddle and
Johnny Elliott scored twice, with
Mark Henry scoring once.
The boys play a postponed game
with the 'Lucknow squad on. Wed-
nesday night at 8.30. The next
home game will be Sunday,
February 2.

In this writer's opinion, the name
of this bonspiel should be changed.
It would be fairer to call it the
Courtney-Hodge or (C-H) bonspiel,
as the firm for which it was
originally named has never contrib-
uted one red cent to it's sponsor-

Sunday here to win a close one over
Kincardine 6-5..
It was a slow moving game until
things opened up in the 3rd and the
Texacos .took a 4-3 lead.

winning on John Emberlin's goal
midway in the, 3rd period. Dave
MacKinnon played a persistent
game collecting the hat and 2
assists on the tying and winning
goals. Also -scoring for Lucknow
.were Brian Boyle unassisted, Jim
.Murray 1 goal and 1, assist and
John Emberlin 1 goal and 1 assist;
Paul Frayne and Ken Houston each
earned 1 assist.
