WEALTH OF PLANS
AVAILABLE .
Now is the time to plan for any
additions or improvements a-
round the farms:.Jad. To assist
with' this type of work, each
/ county office of the Ontario Min-
istry of -Agriculture and Food,
through the Canada Plan Service,
has a large assortment of -,,up-to-
date plans for all types of farm
structures and allied equipmerit.
These include plans for buildings '
and equipment for all types of
livestock, feed storage structures,
implement sheds, manure stor-
age, fences and a host of other
items commonly constructed on
the farm. These plans show all
the details . necessary ter con-
struction purposes and are avail-
able, free of charge, to anyone
who wishes to use them.
In this connection, it has been
demonstrated on many oceasions
that obtaining competition , bitis
from several builders is one very
good way of reducing costs 'to a
minimum. It is important, how-
ever, to obtain bids based on the
same construction plans; other-'
wise it is like comparing prices
for oranges and potatoes — the
prices have little meaning. This
is where the plans of the Canada
Plan Service can be of great as-
sistance; they provide the basic
plans for everyone to quote on, '
with the tanner knowing ahead of
time what he is going to receive.
Another advantage of using Can-
ada Plan Service is the fact that
they have all been designed' by
competent engineers familiar with
the structural requirements of
farm buildings. Since few farm
builders have comparable engine-
-ering services available to them,
constructing buildings according-
to plans is one way the farmer
has of making sure that what is
built for him will be structurally
adequate to withstand the various
loads of climate and use that may
be imposed-, upon it So whether
it's a dairy barn, a feed bunk or
N a windbreak fence, remem-
ber the Capada Plan Service when
next you Wild. '
