— Cut down the increasingly high volutinfrofpnnecessary calls. Directory Assistance operators in Ontario
and Quebec handled more than 22 million calls in 1973, more than 70%of them were for numbers
already listed in the book. •
-- Provider quality Directory Assistance service for those customers who red it for numbers not listed
or who prefer directory assistance service to looking up numbers in the directory.
— Relate charges more directly to use. Withdirectory assistance charging, those who make unnecessary
use of the service (about 50Wof the calls are placed by 10% of our customers), will bear the cost of
supplying this personalized service.

All listings are in alphabetical order.
— Check alternative spellings — Many surnames with similar sounds hcive different spellings.

The Ripley Womett's Institute
was held at the Legion Hall Friday,
January 3rd at 1.30 p.m. with
dessert and coffee.. The president,
Mrs. Graham Cook, brought the
meeting to' order. 37 shut'-in boxes
were made up and delivered by the
Institute for Christmas. Thank you
notes were read.
It was decided to hold a card
party every second week in the
Legion Hall on .a Monday night.
Mrs. Walter Lock then acted as
chairlady for the program "Citizen-
ship and benefit travel"• which was'
prepared by Mrs. Jim. Kirkpatrick
who was ill. Mrs. Lock read a poem
on a Happy New' Year. Mrs.
Donald Blue gave the paper. It
stated to study,the custom and the
country if you were going to visit
there. •
Mary Ann Coiling Sang two
loyely solos accompanied by Mrs.
Roy MacKenzie. A contest then
ollowed on very important women
f the world.
Mrs. Joe Scott thanked the lunch
ommittee and all those taking part
in the program.
DUNGANNON
Dungannon Youth Group held-a
meeting, in Brookside School on
Wednesday evening at which a
committee was appointed as fol-
lows to plan future' meetings: Alex
Chisholm, Steve ,..Park, Stewart
Caesar, Debbie Shultz and Sharon
Young. A guest speaker, will be
present at' the meeting schedul-
ed for this Wednesday evening in
United Church basement.
Mrs. Ralph Henderson, Goder-
ich was assisting in Eedy's' store
last week while Mrs. Irvine Eedy
was getting medical care for foot
trouble.
Wm. Irvin is spending a few days
with . his son and daughter-in-saw,
Mr.• and. Mrs. Robt.
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Wintemute and family on
the recent death of his brother.

Mrs. Lorne Ivers and Mrs. Dynes
Campbell visited at Httronview on

PASSES IN TORONTO
Mrs. Arnold Vokes, a former
resident of Dungannon, passed
away in Toronto in the last week of
1974. Dr. and Mrs. Yokes spent
several years in The village'.
Mrs. Herb Wilkins and Beverley
attended a shower on Sunday at the
home of Mr. and- Mrs. Bill Alton,
Belgrave in honour of Miss Paula
Benninger, Walkerton, bride-to-be
of Brian Alton. •
Sympathy is expressed to Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Smith and family
on the death of their 'son John, of
Goderich, in a car accident on
Saturday morning.
The Brookside Bloomers, who
usually meet in Brookside, school on"
Tuesday nights,'went bowling in
Goderich last Tuesday.

where he was a preacher 60 years

were guests Saturday evening with
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jamieson, West

Richard Moore who plays hockey
with Lucknow Pee Wee team on
Friday evening played Blyth at
Lucknow with a score 9-3 in favor of
Lucknow.
On Saturday. evening Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Rintoul, Mr. and Mrs.
Leonard Robinson of Belgrave, Mr.
and Mrs. David Oberholtzer and
Jeffery, Wingham, Mr. and Mrs.

with Saltfleet in Saltflett arena.
Two games were played. The first
was a tie. The second game was
4-2 in favor of Saltfleet.
The , Y.P.S. held their meeting
Sunday evening in Langside church
with an attendance of 15. The
scripture l John,. chapter 1; Prov-
erbs 6:1, 14:20, 17:17; 18:24 was
read. VVendy -Kay read a poem
Friendship. Graham K-ay recited a
poem on Friendship. The offering
was received and dedicated by
John de Boer. Plans were made for
the social evening to be held
February 1st
T e 1st Lucknow Brownie Pack
held heir first meeting for .1975 on
Tuesday, January 7th. The. Pack
played a: ball game "Sleepy and
Dopey". .

Janice McInnes was Fairy Queen'
ad she placed the Toadstool for
Brownie Ring. Tawny Owl did
inspection, for a complete uniform
and several of the Brownies lost a
point as they, had no, shoes. •
Everyone repeated the BrOwnie
