Upon closing out their business, they , retired to Goderich and the store has been vacant since that time. Reformed Church congregation on 4Sunday evening, December 27 when Rev.' John Van. Stempvoort preached his farewell sermon, "Paul's Conclud- ing Words to the Corinthians". After having served the Lucknow congregatiOn for 5 1/2 ,years, the Van. Stempvoorts will move to Leota, MinneSota. This- will b Rev. Van Sternpvoort's fifth, charge since he, began his ministry in 1953. Leota is a small midwest .town of 317 people. Its Christian Reformed' Church is a rural congregation of 107 families. The Farewell ' service was *well attended by, the members and by friends from the community. Rev. Van Stempvoort began frig-sermon with reminiscing.. He' spolce ;of the congregation's numerical growth from 51 families in 1969, to the more than 70 families at present. Although much of the growth came from transferred membership of; other Christian Reformed church, es, it 'was gratifying to sec a full house every Sunday. 1r .the increase in the matter of giving could be seen 'as a barometer of a good spiritual Ilk; then there was also growth in this respect.
