Agriculture Brussels livestock report Cattle receipts total 3,135 Check out our WEBSITE at www.northhuron.on.ca Total receipts at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Dec. 15 were 3,135 head of cattle and 1,201 lambs and goats. On Tuesday, fed steers and heifers sold at prices $2 to $3 higher. The cows sold steady. On Thursday, veal sold on a good strong active trade. Lambs sold steady with new crop lambs selling sharply higher at prices $5 to $10 above last week with sales reaching $302. All Stockers sold at prices $2 to $5 higher. There were 358 steers on offer selling from $104 to $110 with sales to $115. Perry Sereda, Crediton, con­ signed forty-two steers averaging 1,532 lbs. selling for an average of $105.36 with one black steer weigh­ ing 1,370 lbs. selling for $115. One blonde steer consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, weigh­ ing 1,510 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $114.50. Their overall offering of forty steers averaged 1,602 lbs. selling for an average of $104.29. One charolais steer consigned by Allan Thornton, Gorrie, weighing 1,120 lbs. sold for $109.25. Ray Simpson, Glencoe, consigned eight steers averaging 1,378 lbs. selling for an average of $107.83 with sales to $107.85. Charles Ready, St. Marys, consigned eleven steers aver­ aging 1,455 lbs. selling for an aver­ age of $107.27 with sales to $108.50. Twelve limousin steers consigned by Dave Bender, Palmerston, averaging 1,501 lbs. .sold for an average of $105.74 with sales to $107.75. George Adams, Brussels, con­ signed eight steers averaging 1,368 lbs. selling for an average of $104.26 with one limousin steer weighing 1,435 lbs. selling to St. Helens Meat Packers for $108.75. Seventeen steers consigned by Osiah Weber, Mount Forest, averaged 1,531 lbs. and sold for an average of $103.06 with sales up to $109. Dale Weppler, Ayton, consigned six steers averag­ ing 1,348 lbs. selling for an average of $101.37 with one limousin steer weighing 1,405 lbs. selling to Holly Park Meat Packers for $109. There were 292 heifers on offer selling from $ 104 to $ 110 with sales to $ 115.50. One limousin heifer con­ signed by Johnston Farms, Bluevale, weighing 1,150 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $115.50. Their overall offering of fifty-six heifers averaged 1,219 lbs. selling for an average of $105.34. Brad Hem, Woodham, con­ signed three heifers averaging 1,297 lbs. selling for an average of $ 108.68 with one blonde heifer weighing 1,410 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $113.50. Twelve heifers con­ signed by Andy Vander Veen, Blyth, averaged 1,179 lbs. sold for $108.03 with sales to $111.50. Tom Hem, Woodham, consigned one grey heifer weighing 1,255 lbs. selling for $107.25. Two heifers con­ signed by Ross Baird, Wingham, averaging 1,233 lbs. sold for an aver­ age of $106.74. Everett Dustow, Mildmay, consigned six heifers aver­ aging 1,301 lbs. selling for an aver­ age of $105.63 with sales to $106.50. Two heifers consigned by Calvin Semple, Ethel, averaged, 1,285 lbs. selling for an average of $104.60 with sales to $108.25. Neil MacKenzie, Lucknow, con­ signed fifty-one heifers averaging 1,135 lbs. selling for an average of $103.92 with sales to $107.75. Seven heifers consigned by Karl Terpstra, Mitchell, averaged 1,279 lbs. selling for an average of $ 103.20 with sales to $106.25. Jack R. Nonkes, Auburn, consigned three heifers averaging 1,277 lbs. selling for an average of $103.15 with one gold heifer weighing 1,300 lbs. sell­ ing for $108. There were 99 cows on offer. DI and D2 cows sold $60 to $65 with sales to $68.50; D3, $55 to $60; D4, $45 to $55. One red cow consigned by Don Morley, Elmwood, weighing 1,360 lbs. sold for $68.50. Gordon Edgar, Bluevale, consigned one lim­ ousin cow weighing 1,240 lbs. sell­ ing for $68.50. One holstein cow consigned by Hatert Dairy Farms, Bluevale, weighing 1,820 lbs. sold for $67.50. There were 11 bulls on offer sell­ ing from $66 to $70.70 with sales to $74.50. Bjorn Peterson, Palmerston, consigned one limousin bull weigh­ ing 2,065 lbs. selling for $74.50. One limousin bull consigned by Dennis Dolmage, Londesboro, weighed 2,480 lbs. and sold for $74. There were 296 head of veal on offer. Beef sold $110 to $145; Holstein, $115 to $129; Plain Holstein, $95 to $110. One charolais veal steer consigned by Mark and Paul Pennington, Mildmay, weigh­ ing 735 lbs. sold for $145. John Verburg, Londesboro, consigned one black blue cross veal steer weighing 740 lbs. selling for $144. One limou­ sin veal steer consigned by Brad Holst, Harriston, weighing 580 lbs. sold for $141. Lambs, under 50 lbs. sold $175 to $302.50; 50 to. 64. lbs., $227.50 to $292; 65 - 79 lbs., $142 to $205; 80 -94 lbs., $122 to $160; 95- 110 lbs., $117 to$147. Goats sold $30 to $185. Sheep sold $52.50 to $97. Steers, under 400 lbs., sold $ 142 to $184; 400 - 499 lbs., $131 to $173; 500 - 599 lbs., $130 to $160; 600 - 699 lbs., $124 to $161; 700 - 799 lbs., $111 to $138; 800 - 899 lbs., $111.50 to $125; 900 - 999 lbs., $85.50 to $132; 1,000 lbs. and over, $93 to $122.
