We at McGavin's would like to thank all our customers for their support and patronage throughout our 64 years on serving the Walton area, Huron County and beyond. FROM AUBURN Carols begin WI meeting Prior to the opening of the Auburn WI service, carols were sung with Betty Archambault leading and Laura Mae Chamney as pianist. After the singing of the Institute Grace, the executive was in charge of the potluck dinner and a delicious meal was enjoyed. Following the meal there was an exchange of Christmas gifts. Jane Giousher and Laura Mae Chamney were in charge of a cookie donation and exchange. Throughout this time Maureen Bean and Betty Archambault gave appropriate poems and reading. The afternoon closed with the playing of bingo which was capably handled by Laura Mae Chamney and enjoyed by all. ■|||f ■ Hullett -winners Winners of the Blyth Legion Remembrance Day contest were presented with their certificates last week by Youth Education Chair June Patterson. Paul Ross leading and Nancy Park as organist. Rev. Ross spoke to the children and out of the mystery bag “Charlie Horse” was drawn. Rev. Ross spoke about dreams and assured the chil­ dren that there was nothing to fear, God was always with them. Rev. Ross preached the from Matthew I. Here, a came to Joseph telling him Daryl Ball will be returning to work this Monday as he has recov­ ered sufficiently from larynx sur­ gery. Margaret Hildebrand has had knee surgery and is a patient at Stratford General Hospital. She will be moved to Clinton hospital soon. Her hus­ band John and members of the fami­ ly were going to visit her following church on Sunday. We are really enjoying winter weather. We do have SNOW! Snow brings birds and we are blessed with them. We have long meal not due to the food but because we are watch­ ing our bird feeders. God’s creatures are wonderful. Several Auburnites enjoy the Town and Country dinner at Trinity Anglican, Blyth on Friday Dec. 15 at Mary and that when the baby was bom to name him Jesus. Then from the gospel of John, God made the world and everything in it. John came and said that he was not Jesus but that a baby was to be bom and he would be God’s son Jesus. Members were treated between the Bible readings by solos by Mrs. Trissia Johnston of Teeswater with Auburn’s Jeff Carter playing his gui­ tar and Nancy Park at the piano. Rev. Ross’s sermon was Christmas Dreams. He spoke of his dreams - noon. It was a delicious turkey din­ ner with plum pudding and all the trimmings. Several of the group had December birthdays. Help is needed and not only every county but all able people should assist. Offering was received and present­ ed by Greg Park and Larry Plaetzer. After church the congregation went downstairs to a goodly number of dinner tables all ready for use and at the front was a table laden with four kettles of soup, plus dishes. Behind the tables stood two chefs, Larry Plaetzer and Doug . McClinchey. Bernice Gross thanked the Sunday School for the delicious meal and all showed their appreciation.
