Agriculture Brussels Livestock report Veal sells strong at sale Total receipts at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Dec. 8 were 3,085 head of cattle and 804 lambs and goats. On Tuesday, fed steers and heifers sold at prices $1 to $2 higher. The cows sold on a good strong active trade. On Thursday, veal sold on a very strong trade and Iambs sold steady. On Friday, all weights of stockers sold on a strong steady mar­ ket. There were 388 steers on offer selling from $102 to $108 with sales to $115.75. On limousin steer consigned by Jim Howatt, Londesboro, weighing 1,270 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $115.75. His overall offering of twenty-seven steers averaged 1,424 lbs. selling for an average of $107.06. Bender Beef Farms, Hensail, consigned forty-six steers averaging 1,506 lbs. selling for an average of $103.47. Their top limou­ sin steer weighing 1,295 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $114.25. Two steers consigned by Gordon Brooks, Lucknow, averaged 1,403 lbs. sold for an average of $107.33 with sales to $109.25. Allan Huisser, Wingham, con­ signed two steers averaging 970 lbs. selling for $107. One limousin steer consigned by Brian Dallner, Atwood, weighing 1,385 lbs. sold to Thames Sales Yard Ltd for $107.75. His overall offering of eight steers averaged 1,431 lbs. selling for an average of $105.80. Fred Bieman, Ayton, consigned two steers averag­ ing 1,410 lbs. selling for an average of $104.10 with sales to $108.50. Five steers consigned by Alan McNabb, Minesing, averaged 1,447 lbs. selling for an average of $103.96 with sales to $107.50. Murray Wagg, Mitchell, consigned eleven steers averaging 1,255 lbs. selling for an average of $103.12 with sales to $108. Clarence Martin, Mount Forest, consigned thirteen steers averaging 1,264 lbs. selling for an average of $102.73 with his top red steer weighing 1,035 lbs. selling for $106.75. Twelve steers consigned by Don Shiell, Wingham, averaging 1,483 lbs. sold for an aver­ age of $99.84 with one red steer weighing 1,395 lbs. selling to Holly Park Meat Packers for $107.25. There were 205 heifers on offer selling from $102 to $108 with sales to $120. One pied heifer consigned by John Polo Ltd., Guelph, weighing 1,225 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $ 120. His overall offering of sev­ enteen heifers averaged 1,242 lbs. selling for an average of $105.51. Hugh Love, Atwood, consigned fourteen heifers averaging 1,289 lbs. selling for an average of $104.20 with sales to $110.75. Enos M. Sherk, Wroxeter, con­ signed one limousin heifer weighing 1,245 lbs. selling for $108.75. One RWF heifer consigned by John Newans, Wroxeter, weighing 1,405 lbs, sold to Thames Sales Yard Ltd. for $106.25. Karl Terpstra, Mitchell, consigned one charolais heifer weighing 1,245 lbs. selling to Thames Sales Yard Ltd. for $106.75. His overall offering of ten heifers averaged 1,305 lbs. and sold for an average of $101.57. Roy A. McCulloch, Alienford, consigned twenty-one heifers averaging 1,359 lbs. selling for an average of $99.72 with sales to $106.75. There were 200 cows on offer. D1 and D2 cows sold $58 to $62 with sales to $70; D3, $55 to $58; D4, $45 to $55. One gold cow consigned by John Knapp, Chesley, weighing 1,690 lbs. sold for $67.50. Charles Bray, Mildmay, consigned one here- ford cow weighing 1,295 lbs. selling for $66. One holstein cow consigned by Gideon Schriek, Chesley, weighed 1,660 lbs. and sold for $65.50. Stan Conquergood, Port Elgin, consigned one RWF bull weighing 1,960 lbs. which sold for $73.50. There were 175 head of veal on offer.
