Blyth Tyke Bulldogs suffer first loss of season The Blyth Tykes suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Goderich Tykes this past Saturday. The two Blyth forward lines of Tyler Stevenson, Collin Whitfield and Tyler Black; Adam Cronin, Kirby Cook and John Lecomte played impressively well and had many chances at the opposing net. Twin Towers Aaron and Matt Popp and defence partner Trevor Raynard had their work cut out for them as they nipped the Goderich players aggressive invasion in their territory. Matt Chalmers was remarkable as he played face to face against Goderich’s top player and stopped numerous scoring chances. Shots on either net were even until late in the last period, when Goderich peppered the Blyth net with a volley of shots. Blyth goalie Grant Sparling was unbeatable until the last four minutes of the game when a shot popped over his stick. Sparling was sound behind his squad as he cancelled many Goderich breakaways. Goderich scored a second goal before the final buzzer sounded ending the game at 2-0. Ryan Smith had a great game in net, "stopping several good shots in close. Brussels got on the board first thanks to an inadvertent clearing pass by the opposition’s goalie which went into the net. Taylor Prior was credited with the goal. Brian Burgess put Brussels up 2-0 before the end of the first when he took a pass out of the comer and slid it past the netminder at 2:01. Brendan Stretton had several good shots on net while Evan Ducharme and Burgess worked hard digging the puck out of the comers. The score held through the second in spite of nice attempts by Andrew Watson, Stretton and Ducharme. Prior added to the tally in the third when he picked up the puck out a scramble in his own end and netted it at 12:49. Brussels was up 4-0 thanks to a great passing play from . while Randy Zwep had a shot Ducharme to Thomas Johnston just deflected wide by the netminder. 20 seconds later. On Saturday the team played in Markdale against Niagara Falls and PeeWee Dogs lose to Elma Logan On Thursday, Nov. 30 the PeeWee Bulldogs hosted Elma Logan. Blyth’s Darren Austin scoried unassisted, but Elma Logan came back to tie it. Austin-put the Bulldogs back on top notching a marker early in the second setup by Kyle Procter. Elma Logan responded with three unan­ swered goals to establish a 4-2 lead. Elma Logan added to that lead early in the third to put the Bulldogs in the hole. Austin gained his hattrick with 4:28 to go assisted by James Durrell and Beaner to pull within two. With from Conor Gill and Derek Widmeyer, Widmeyer from Gill and Bester and Jim Hutchinson from Colton. In net for the Highlanders was Sean Van Beurdan making many awesome saves. Sunday the Highlanders played in Chesley against Oakville and won 3- 2. Scoring were Thomas from Jordan Wright, Gill from Jay Tremble and C. Corbett and C. Corbett from Gill. In net was Colton Routenburg. J. Boughan gets hattrick for Chiefs Continued from page 10 winners. Jared Boughan earned the hattrick for the Chiefs. The Bull dogs nipped the Stars 7- 6. Bulging the twine for the Bulldogs were Mark Wilson (two), Robb Finch, Shaun Bromley, Chris Howson, Chris Taylor and Brian Marks.
