Blyth Tyke Bulldogs suffer first loss of season
The Blyth Tykes suffered their
first loss of the season at the hands of
the Goderich Tykes this past
Saturday.
The two Blyth forward lines of
Tyler Stevenson, Collin Whitfield
and Tyler Black; Adam Cronin,
Kirby Cook and John Lecomte
played impressively well and had
many chances at the opposing net.
Twin Towers Aaron and Matt Popp
and defence partner Trevor Raynard
had their work cut out for them as
they nipped the Goderich
players aggressive invasion in their
territory.
Matt Chalmers was remarkable as
he played face to face against
Goderich’s top player and stopped
numerous scoring chances.
Shots on either net were even until
late in the last period, when
Goderich peppered the Blyth net
with a volley of shots.
Blyth goalie Grant Sparling was
unbeatable until the last four minutes
of the game when a shot popped over
his stick. Sparling was sound behind
his squad as he cancelled many
Goderich breakaways. Goderich
scored a second goal before the final
buzzer sounded ending the game at
2-0.
