THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2000. PAGE 3.
Letter writer
says thanks
THE EDITOR,
I had a wonderful experience on
Tuesday, Nov. 21 (the week of our
first winter blast) and I felt com
pelled to write a short note in our
paper.
I was- taking my dog Ben for a
walk and we toured up the main
street of Bly th. It was such an inspir
ing sensation with the fresh snow,
sparkling lights and decorations.
The strains of Oh Holy Night started
up (on our new sound system) and I
paused for a moment trying to soak
it all in. It truly was a moment in
time for me!
There are many people to thank
for the work they have done to
enhance our village and that is why
I am writing to express my thanks to
all of them. Job well done!
If you have a moment this
Christmas season take the time to
stroll the village and main street and
realize how lucky we are to have
what we have.
Thanks for your time.
Azetta Gibbons.

Water test results from the Blyth
water supply in the Village of Blyth
indicate a fluoride level of 1.7 mg/L
(milligrams per litre). This level
exceeds, the Ontario Drinking Water
Objectives of l .5 mg/L.
According to a public health notice
from the health unit, fluoride is a
common element in the earth’s crust
and occurs naturally in water.
Fluoride levels in water may vary
widely from one area to the next. The
ideal is in a range of 0.3 mg/L to l .2
mg/L. This is the level at which the
population obtains optimal benefit in
the prevention of dental caries with
the absence of teeth mottling or
skeletal fluorosis.
Adverse effects of fluoride in
drinking water above L5 mg/L and
below 2.4 mg/L are cosmetic in
nature (dental mottling in a small
portion of the population).
Excess fluoride may interfere with
enamel formation in developing
teeth in children (fluorosis) between
two to three years of age. Children
may be affected with mild to severe
fluorosis.Parents with infants should
shun the use of fluoride supplements
and fluoridated toothpaste until the
child is older than three. Bottled
water may be considered, but parents
APQTHEEARY
should check the fluoride content of
the bottle water they intend to pur
chase.
Reverse osmosis treatment for
drinking water may be used to
remove some of the fluoride content
in the water. Consult manufacturer’s
specifications.
See a family dentist or physician
for advice on your situation.

THE TOWNSHIP OF
NORTH HURON
NOTICE TO RESIDENTS
The North Huron Transition Board has requested that the
Ontario Provincial Police provide a costing proposal for
the provision of police services within the new
municipality.
As part of the process that allows the Township to
determine the level of services the Township requires,
members of the O.P.P. will be conducting a consultation
meeting with any member of the community.
Interviews are set for Thursday, December 7, 2000 at the
Wingham Armouries between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and
8:00 p.m. Each interview will take approximately 30
minutes and will be conducted in private. The results of
the interview will be provided to the Township.
If you or your group are interested in providing input on
policing services, please call the Town of Wingham
Municipal Office at (519) 357-3550 during normal business
hours to arrange an appointment. Deadline for
appointments is Thursday, December 7, 2000 at 11:00 a.m.
The invitation for O.P.P. to provide a costing proposal is to
explore options for providing police services to the
community. No decisions relating to police services have
been made.
If you have any questions or require additional
information regarding the foregoing, please contact the
undersigned. Your input is important.
John Stewart, Clerk,
Town of Wingham
