PAGE 23. ______Agriculture Brussels Livestock report Thursday’s veal sells $5-$lO higher Total receipts at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Nov. 24 were 4,841 head of cattle and 229 lambs and goats. On Tuesday, fed steers and heifers sold $1 higher. Cows sold on a strong steady market. On Thursday, veal sold $5 to $10 higher and the lambs sold on a strong active trade. On Friday, all classes of Stockers sold at strong steady prices. There were 935 steers on offer selling from $100 to $105 with sales to $114.25. Rick Govers, Crediton, consigned four limousin steers aver­ aging 1,270 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $114.25. His overall offering of seventeen steers averaged 1,321 lbs. selling for an average of $108.68. Twelve steers consigned by Schmidt Brook Farms, Woodstock, averaging 1,484 lbs. sold for an average of $104.20 with sales up to $112.25. Lome Benedict, Kerwood, con­ signed thirty-seven steers averaging 1,341 lbs. selling for an average of $105.74 with two limousin steers averaging 1,293 lbs. selling for $109. Four steers consigned by Elmer Sauder, Mount Forest, averag­ ing 1,321 lbs. sold for an average of $103.58 with sales up to $111. Jim Howatt, Londesboro, consigned twenty-two steers averaging 1,528 lbs. selling for an average of $103.04 with five limousin steers averaging 1,465 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $109. Twenty-four steers consigned by Laverne Martin, Mount Forest, aver­ aging 1,288 lbs. sold for an average of $102.32 with one limousin steer weighing 1,225 lbs. selling to Highland Packers Ltd. for $112. Twenty-two steers consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, averag­ ing 1,557 lbs. sold for an average of $101.54 with one limousin steer weighing 1,360 lbs. selling for $110. Martin Metske, Lucknow, consigned forty steers averaging 1,402 lbs. sell­ ing for an average of $100.31. One limousin steer weighing 1,385 lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for $109.75. Eighty-one steers consigned by Jerry Kuntz, Formosa with an aver­ age weight of 1,513 lbs. sold for an average of $98.74 with sales to $110.25. Aaron Martin, Holstein, consigned sixteen steers averaging 1,452 lbs. selling for an average of $98.25 with one limousin steer weighing 1,355 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $109.25. There were 221 heifers on offer selling from $100 to $105 with sales to $ 116. Dave Eadie, Holyrood, con­ signed one black heifer weighing 1,360 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $116. Two heifers con­ signed by Ross Baird, Wingham, averaging 1,293 lbs. sold for an aver­ age of $ 112.35 with sales to $ 114.50. Four heifers consigned by Bev Hamilton, Hensail, averaging 1,199 lbs. sold to Thames Sales Yard Ltd. for $105.75. One limousin heifer consigned by Dean Aldwinkle, Varna, weighing 1,340 lbs. sold for $105.75. Beeler Farms, Zurich, consigned three lim­ ousin heifers averaging 990 lbs. sell­ ing for an average of $105.13 with sales up to $108. Kada Farms, Bluevale, consigned eleven heifers averaging 1,214 lbs. selling for an average of $104.61 with sales to $108.25. Two heifers consigned by John Dales, Cargill, averaging 1,153 lbs. sold for an average or $104.56 with sales to $105.75. Fifteen heifers consigned by Hugh Love, Atwood, averaging 1,271 lbs. sold for an average of $104.35 with one blonde heifer weighing 1,240 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $111. John Sherk Jr., Clifford, con­ signed four heifers averaging 1,164 lbs. selling for an average of $102.83 with sales to $107.25. Twenty heifers consigned by Dave McCurdy, Paisley, averaging 1,472 lbs. sold for an average of $98.57 with one blonde heifer weighing 1,375 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $114.25. There were 208 cows on offer. DI and D2 cows sold $60 to $65 with sales to $70.50; D3, $55 to $60; D4, $50 to $55. Gerald Henry, Owen Sound, consigned one black cow weighing 1,600 lbs. sold for $70.50. One black cow consigned by Bruce Ribey, Paisley, weighing 1,495 lbs. sold for $67. Mike Henry, Brampton, consigned one blonde cow weighing 1,510 lbs. selling for $66.50. There were 15 bulls on offer sell­ ing from $62 to $79 with sales to $89. One black bull consigned by Rick Jones, Holyrood, weighing 2,185 lbs. selling for an average of $79. Sylvester Stroeder, Harriston, consigned one limousin bull weigh­ ing 1,890 lbs. selling for $79. There were 134 head of veal on offer. Beef sold $110 to $163; Holstein, $105 to $127; Plain Holstein, $90 to $100. One blue veal heifer consigned by John Verburg, Londesboro, weighing 700 lbs. sold for $163. Melvin B. Martin, Linwood, consigned one limousin veal steer weighing 715 lbs. which sold for $163. One grey white face veal steer consigned by Richard Horst, Listowel, weighing 675 lbs. sold for $161. Lambs, under 50 lbs. sold $177.50; 50 - 64 lbs., $205 to $222; 65 - 79 lbs., $162 to $181; 80 - 94 lbs., $138 to $177; 95 - 110 lbs., $132 to $140. Goats sold $30 to $200. Sheep sold $40 to $77. .
