Don’t forget to watch the Santa Claus Parade in Brussels next Saturday starting at l p.m. Dec. 6 will be the Walton WUCC potluck Christmas supper beginning at 6:30 p.m. Roll call will be an item for the women’s shelter. It was also announced that Nov. 25 happened to be Joan’s birthday and everyone sang Happy Birthday to her. She said that she had a great day and enjoyed it very much. Graeme Craig then sang a beauti­ ful song requested by Shelley and Brian McGavin for their infant son’s baptism, called, A Mother and Father’s Prayer. Leona McDonald invited Shelley, Brian, Tyson, Abby and Brandon forward for the baptism of Tyson Reed McGavin. Abby assisted in the baptism by pouring water into the font and Joan, taking Tyson in her arms, carried out the baptism. Brian lit the baptismal candle and Joan then introduced the latest mem­ ber of the church to the congrega­ tion. Congratulations. The WI meeting that was to be held last Wednesday at the Hall was cancelled due to bad weather. It will be this Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Duff’s United Church. Speaker Jim Fischer will be talking about GMO and bio-technology- related issues. Joan Tuchlinksy greeted everyone and opened the service with the responsive Call to Worship. She also ran through the announcements not­ ing that next Sunday is White Gift Sunday and the children will be tak­ ing over the service. There will be bells and a piano solo and much more. The first place winners were McKillop council discusses Huron East fire depts. McKillop council learned at its Nov. 7 meeting that 9-1-1 signs on Sideroad 10 at Cones. 13/14, 12/13 and 10/11 have been replaced and a police report has been completed. Brian Campbell, Dean Glanville and Don Dalton are plowing snow on a part-time basis for this year. Council endorsed a resolution from the Town of Charlton to peti­ tion the province for 100 per cent funding for the cost of testing requirements for pesticides, PCBs and volatile organics or keep the testing requirements every 10 years and every five years respectively. Petitions for repair and improve­ ment of the Manley municipal drain, the Crozier municipal drain and the Award drain were accepted. It was noted that the fire chief’s position for the the new municipality of Huron East is undecided. The departments will run the same for the next year. Council was told that the Huron East transition board is inviting ten­ ders to operate the water and sewer systems. The grants for 2000 were approved with the exception of the Seaforth Agricultural Society. Council had no objection to the minor exception of the tree bylaw at Cone. 13, Pt. Lot 6 and Cone. 13, Part Lot 7. It was explained to council that the county is proposing a 24-hour ambu­ lance service to be located on Hwy. 8 between Seaforth and Clinton. The area has never had a full-time person on call 24 hours but rather a standby. Morris farmer reports B&E - Sample Please Complete On Nov. 20 at approximately 7:45 p.m. a farmer reported his driving shed has been entered. Sometime between Nov. 18 at 10 p.m. and before 7 a.m. on Nov. 19 a lone male walked into the shed. Tracks indicated that the man was looking for gasoline. Further enquiries showed that the same per­ son had entered a neighbour's shed but in all cases nothing was stolen.
