East Wawanosh PS news Mr. Lee top choice for dress-up day By Adel Dodds and Kristen McArter The East Wawanosh students’ council sponsored a school spirit day with the object of the day was for the students to dress up as their favourite teacher. These are the different winners in the different grades: Grade 1, Bonnie Nethery and Sean Golley; Grade 2, Brittany Weber; Grade 3, Greg Dodds; Grade 4, Adel Dodds; Grade 5/6, J.D. Shiell. Mr. Lee seemed to be the most popular person to dress up as. The School Advisory Council met on Wednesday, Nov. 15 in the library. A report was given that the recent magazine and gift campaign had been highly successful with over $5,000 being raised. So far, SAC has contributed $1,000 toward the pur­ chase of materials for both the French and Grade 1 science pro­ grammes, a book taping machine for the library and the upgrade of the Grade 1 computer. Currently, school-crested clothing is on sale until Dec. 1. By Nikki Van De Walk As of Monday, Nov. 20 the first- term report cards have gone home. As most parents know the marking system is in levels, level four as the highest and level one as the lowest, so don’t worry if you saw a level three because that is the provincial average and a level four is a very hard mark to achieve. The students have worked very hard this term and the school is very proud of each and every one of the stirdents. Parent Teacher interviews will be held on Thursday, Nov. 23 after school hours and again on Friday, Nov. 24 all day which means the stu­ dents get a PA Day. The Auxiliary Ladies served the lunch following the funeral of comrade Ross Duncan on Monday afternoon. The ladies will be busy with banquets for the next little while and can always use an extra hand or two. Give Helen Dobson a call. I’m sure she would appreciate the extrd help. Thursday night is mixed darts just for fun and a good bunch has come out to play. They can still use more and you don’t have to be a member so drop in and see. Friday Comrades Glenn and Jean Bridge and Comrade Bush Whittard and friend Audrey went to see A Celebration of Heroes. They trav­ elled by bus to Camp Borden for the show paying tribute to ail Canadian Armed Services personnel. They OPP investigate road sign thefts On Nov. 14 just before 2:30 p.m. the superintendent of the Hullett Roads Department reported the theft of signs. Sometime over the previous weekend two signs located at the intersection of Winthrop Road and Burns Line in Hullett Twp. were stolen. These emergency signs have the names of the roads and the emer­ gency numbers in that stretch of roadway. Missing is Winthrop Road sign with numbers 41199-41201 and Bums Line 81599-81601. While they were enjoying their dinner those left at the Branch enjoyed sausage and sauerkraut. This week is sweet and sour chicken. Not many around the Branch on Saturday because they were in Mitchell playing cnbbage. Comrades who were winners and will move on to District crib in Seaforth in February are Ken and Linda Bird, Bob and Margo Richardson, Cathy Snyder, Willis Knight, John Wright and Norm Dobson. Others who went and enjoyed the day were Jim Brown, Sandra Josling, John Harrison, Julie Harrison, Helen Dobson, Glenn Bridge, Helen Brenie and Gord Nichol.
