Grey’s kindergarten elass learns the letter I
The Grey Central Kindergarten
Cs discovered the letter I i this week.
They made booklets, pictures using
Some were videotaped in the
Legion program.
Students created many snow
on magnets and built buildings with
base 10 blocks in math.
Grade 7/8s started the novel Shane
sculptures at recess time. Grade 3s
this week made Santa Claus parade
posters. They continued a study on
pioneers, did a science experiment
by Jack Schaefer. In history they are
studying pioneer life and early set
tlement of Upper Canada. For sci
ence they have the topic of water and
ink and stencils, I i mazes and ice
cube paintings. They dressed up at
the dress-up centre, played in the
sand and built with blocks.
Greatly appreciated
It was a time of recognition on Saturday night as Grey Twp. council honoured its volunteers.
Reeve Robin Dunbar, right, presented plaques to the board of Mount Pleasant Cemetery,
which has been a part of the township for 89 years. Members are, from left: Bill Pearson, Ron
Cardiff, Robert Bremner and George Pearson. (Vicky Bremner photo)
its effects on life.
Two weeks ago, the KA/KB/KC
children were learning about the let
ter T. They created and painted tur
tles, trains and teapots.
They also learned to use sparkly
dobbers to decorate stars.
At the computers with Mrs.
Newman, the kindergartens tried
Sammy’s Science House, Plumo or
Bailey’s book House.
The big surprise was a wonderful
tea party in honour of the letter T.
They sat around a large table, sipped
tea and ate tea biscuit cookies.
In the Grade 4 classroom they are
studying the Great Blue Herons in
P.E.I.
They are also starting their unit on
rocks. In music they have begun
learning Christmas songs.
Grade 7/8s did the Remembrance
Day Service on Thursday, Nov. 9. It
went really well.
In SCC, students have learned a
new writing process called TOWER
(Think. Organize, Write, Edit and
Rew'rite), to write stories about the
war. Each day they read stories relat
ed to Remembrance Day.
Fifty Christmas boxes were pack
aged for the Samaritan’s Purse, so 50
children from a Third World Country
will have a Christmas present.

“We recommend that no matter
how you get the message, if you are
asked to call a number with an 809
area code that you disregard the mes
sage. Be wary of e-mail or calls ask
ing you to call an 809 area code
number. It’s important to prevent
becoming a victim of this scam,
since trying to fight the charges
afterwards can become a real night
mare. That’s because you did actual
ly make the call.
“If you complain,” Shropshall
said, “both your local phone compa
ny and your long distance carrier
will not want to get involved and
will most likely tell you that they are
simply providing the billing for the
foreign company. You’ll end up
dealing with a foreign company that
argues they have done nothing
wrong.”
