Federation of Agriculture
honours Murray Gaunt
At the first meeting under the
leadership of new president Charles
Regele, Huron County Federation of
Agriculture directors looked to the
past as they honoured Murray Gaunt
for all the work he has done for
agriculture in his years as agriculture
broadcaster for CKNX radio and TV.
He was wished the best in his
retirement.
At Gaunt’s suggestion, HCFA is
looking into joining the Ontario
Agricultural Hall of Fame in order to
facilitate nominating Huron County
residents who have made
outstanding contributions to the
agricultural industry.
As soon as the federal election was
called, HCFA booked an all
candidates meeting to be held
Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the Huron
Centennial School at Brucefield
starting at 8 p.m. Keep chat date and
time marked as the issues facing
agriculture and rural Ontario need to
be presented to the candidates.
HCFA will also co-host a second all
candidates’ meeting with Bruce
County Federation of Agriculture in
the northern part of the riding.
HCFA directors discussed the
current Safety Net Lobby Campaign
and the need for a local lobby
process. Local, provincial and
national lobby efforts need to be
effective if we are to get our message
across to the various levels of
government. Just how and when to
