Students enjoy Duffle Bag By Nikki Van De Walle and Leanne Mullin The Grade 7/8 class of East Wawanosh went to see the Duffle Bag theatre’s play of Romeo and Juliet at the Bly th Festival Theatre on Thursday, Oct. 26. Last year the class had gone to see the perform ance of Mcbeth by the Duffle Bag Theatre and had really enjoyed it so they were excited about seeing this Play- Our own Nicole Lessard got to play Swifty’s wife, up on stage with all of the actors. (Swifty was the sec ond choice messenger, played by Michelle). The play was a backwards version of Romeo and Juliet, and the famous balcony scene was done on a veranda. At the end Romeo and Juliet did not die like in the famous Shakespeare play. The play was very interactive, so that every time the narrator (Marcus) said “Montague” everyone on the left side of the theatre had to shout out Mama Mia! Every time the nar rator (Marcus) said “Capulet” every one on the right side of the theatre said Cappuccino. Romeo and Juliet were played by students from the audience. This interactive play had everyone laughing. We give it a two thumbs up. Even with a few problems it still was a good performance. On Wednesday, Oct. 25, East Wawanosh’s kindergarten A class went to see the Duffle Bag Theatre’s presentation of Peter Pan at the Blyth Festival theatre. For most of the children it was their first time going to the theatre. For the most part the students enjoyed seeing Peter Pan come to life. Having just read the story they had a slight idea of what they might see in the presen tation. Mrs. McGregor (kindergarten A teacher) also thoroughly enjoyed seeing the production. Caitlin, Caroline, and Wesley liked when Captain Hook got chased by the crocodile. Brianna, Kaitlyn, Zachary and Evan also liked the crocodile but Brianna liked Wendy the best. Shania liked Wendy, John, and Captain Hook. Austin liked when the mom opened the door and hit Michael. \ Rachel and Trevor liked the Pirates. Jesse liked all the sword fighting. Laura liked when Wendy got captured and when Peter said “Never Grow Up”. Andrea liked both the crocodile and Pirates. Ryan liked the crocodile, Captain Hook, and when Peter Pan cried.
