Not here at Huronlea where the handy residents sit outside and pre tend they’re nice and warm. They discuss weighty subjects like how little snow there is these past winters compared to the “good old days”. Does this sound cynical? Well, it is, I wouldn’t go back to those days for a million dollars. Okay, I’ll take that journey back with my sacks of money. First I’ll buy a green Cadillac, hire a chauffeur and travel across Canada and see all the places I’ve wanted to see. I’d stay at deluxe hotels, have room service - frequent ly. A maid is essential to unpack all my books and, oh yes, my clothes. Sorry - I wandered. I’m still here at Huronlea where the lounge and Lodge has good attendance foyer are decorated for Halloween and we’re planning a spooky party. These days are great and if you don’t look back all the time you are more content. Perhaps even happier. Today is the most important day. Tomorrow hasn’t arrived so bask in the sunshine and live for the moment. The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge was held on Tuesday, Oct. 24 with a good atten dance. Her friends and cousins called her Susie. She was educated in Morris and Seaforth and taught school in North Bay and Oakville. The history of this woman, that I now know, make the gallery an even better memorial, a living history celebrating rural life and education.
