Obituaries ANNIE BLAIR On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, Mrs. Annie Blair, formerly of Blyth and East Wawanosh Twp., passed away at the age of 88, at Braemar Retirement Centre in Turnberry Twp. The former Annie Thompson, wife of the late Hugh Blair, was bom March 7, 1912, to Robert and Elizabeth Thompson, in County Down, Northern Ireland. On Nov. 20, 1930, she married Hugh Blair, and they fanned at Lot 37, Cone. 6 of East Wawanosh Twp. until the time of Hugh’s death in 1974. The following year, Annie moved to Queen Street, Blyth, where she lived until August of 1998, when ill health forced her to give up her home. Annie was the mother of Betty Moon of Londesboro and Alex and Bev Blair of Blyth; grandmother of Cameron Moon, Bill, Adam and Kristy Blair, and Angela and Billy Tugwell; and great-grandmother of Amber and Dawson Tugwell. She was the sister of Nick Aitken of Turnberry Estates, Robert Thompson of Wingham, and Ned and Doris Thompson of Mitchell. She was predeceased by her par-' ents, her husband, her son Billy, one sister, Frances Houston, and six brothers: Joe, Jack, Bill, Tom, David and Jim Thompson. On Wednesday, Oct. 18 a funeral service was held for the late Annie Blair at the McBurney Funeral Home in Wingham, with Don Vair and Rev. Ernest Dow officiating. Tributes to their mother and grand­ mother were given by Betty Moon and Kristy Blair. The organist played Danny Boy as a final musical tribute to Annie. On a beautiful autumn afternoon, the funeral procession drove down County Rd. 4, stopping briefly in front of Annie’s former home in Blyth, and continuing on to Blyth Union Cemetery. There, Annie was carried to her final resting place, beside her husband and son, by six long-time family friends; Murray Scott, Clifford Coultes, Eldon Cook, Harvey Black, Ron Purdon and Ray Hallahan, Floral tributes were car­ ried by her two youngest grandchil­ dren, Adam and Kristy Blair. A funeral luncheon followed at the Blyth United Church. Memorial donations for the late Annie Blair may be made to the Blyth United Church, the Westfield Fellowship Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
