Blyth PS news Soccer teams finish second at annual tournament The Regional Junior Soccer Tournament was held on Sept. 27 at Huron Centennial School. Weeks of hard work and practice to improve skills paid off with a second place finish for Blyth’s boys’ and girls’ teams. A great effort by players, coaches and Mrs. VanVliet. Fred deBoer and Alan Young for volunteered their time to work with these two teams. The students from junior kinder­ garten to Grade 2 will be enjoying a performance of Peter Pan at the Blyth Festival Theatre on Tuesday, Brussels PS news Classes do Thanksgiving work By Westin McLeod and Ryan Smith Brussels Public School students in various classes were busy making turkeys for Thanksgiving. The Grade 1 class made pilgrims and Indians for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Grade 2 class was busy learning about the holiday as well. The Grade 3/4 class have been working on leaf projects. The Grade 4s in the class are learning about rounding numbers and habitats. The Grade 4/5 class has been studying the Olympics. They are also writing about their favourite athletes. The Grade 5/6 class is learning about complimentary colours and division with decimals. The Grade 7s have been busy making books. The Grade 8 class has begun sell­ ing lottery tickets for their trip. Tickets for a four-wheeler can be purchased for $20 at the school. Students are creating “photograph­ Oct. 24. The alternate kindergarten class will attend the play on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Grade 7 and 8 students will enjoy a performance of Romeo and Juliet on Thursday, Oct. 26. On Oct. 18 students will attend an assembly followed by a bus escape exercise here at the school. The 1999/2000 student council elections took place on Sept. 22. After an active campaign and speeches, the successful candidates were: President, Amanda Bearss; vice-president, Jeff Elliott; secretary, ic” scrapbooks. They are also going to be busy next week doing a Haunted House with the assistance of Charles Corbett. Anyone in the community is welcome to go through the haunted house on Oct. 27, 28 and 29 from 7 p.m. Admission will be $2. Proceeds from this event will go towards Grade 8 graduation and next year’s haunted house. Huronia Humane Society is holding PET ADOPTION DAY Sat., Oct. 21 1 ~ 4 pm at K-9 Training Services (3 km. The inter-school cross-country meet will take place at Hullett Central School on Oct. 23. On Oct. 13 students from Grades 3 to 8 will be attending the final Ontario display of Timeship 2000 at Goderich District Collegiate Institute. The theme for this museum style interactive display is based on the concept of time and ties in with the areas of math, language, history and science. All emergency service workers. No appointment necessary but bring your health card. The vaccine will be available to all persons over 6 months of age free of charge in November.
