The first euchre party of the season took place at the Cranbrook Community Centre in the newly ren­ ovated basement. It was easily accessible for people who need a wheelchair or a walker and generally it was thought to be cosy and warm. Nine tables were in play. Scores were as follows: high man, Allan Edgar; high lady, Isabelle Bremner; low man, Bill Craig; low lady, Velma Sleightholm; lone hands, lady, Lois Schneider; lone hands, man, Ross Stephenson; travelling lone hand, Adrian Verstoep; tallies, Elunid McNair, Norm Dobson and Jeanne Ireland; 50/50, Shirley Verstoep. The next euchre is Oct. 20. The Ducharme family held their Thanksgiving dinner at the Cranbrook hall. Many family mem­ bers attended and everyone had a very good time. Alida Swart is going to be one year old this Oct. 11. We wish her many happy returns of the day. Health seminar in Brussels, Oct. 17 There will be a health seminar open to the public Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the Brussels Public Library meeting room on Turnberry Street. Admission is free. The topic will be an informative presentation by Dr. Barrie L. White, Protect Your Family’s Health. The latest medical research is often not available to the average family until 10 to 15 years later. This is often too late for some members of the family. This seminar will feature informa­ tion that doctors are just learning about that is crucial to know today. West Wawanosh replacing culvert Approval was given at the Oct. 3 meeting of West Wawanosh council for the replacement of the culvert on Cone, 12 (Zion Rd.), Sideroad 18/19 (St. Helens Line), with a 55” or 1,400 millimetre heavy gauge cul­ vert during the construction of the Miller-Alton Municipal Drain. General and road accounts totalling $21,766.95 and $6,629.90 were approved for payment. Grey Central PS news Students travel to see ‘Peter Pan’ In the Grey Kindergarten A and Kindergarten B with Mrs. Scott, stu­ dents spent time at the watertable and made turkeys out of pinecones with leaves as feathers. The Kindergarten C with Mrs. McGregor went to see Peter Pan at Blyth. Mrs. Goodall’s Grade l/2s also saw Peter Pan. They did colour by number turkeys, sang Thanksgiving songs and made a terrarium for their pet snail. Grade 2/3s saw Peter Pan and begun a snail study. Mrs. Hemingway’s Grade 3s made bubblegum graphs and three-dimen­ sional turkeys. In Grade 4 with Mrs. Murray stu­ dents learned about mushrooms as decomposers. They finished a study of Nova Scotia. The Grade 5/6 class of Mr. Mason brought in microscopes and tele­ scopes because they are studying light video (Bill Nye Science Guy). Thursday ' October 12 r Only! , Thursday . The SCCs with Mrs. MacKay are working on an art project for the Braemar Retirement Residence, cel­ ebrating Ontario Agricultural Week. For Fire Prevention Week, Grey Twp. Fire Chief Gary Earl visited on Tuesday for a presentation to Grade 4s. On Thursday, Sherry Riehl, from the Huron County Planning Department will give a “9-1-1- Presentation”. In the library there is a good deal of book circulation, says Mrs. Newman. Students are creating lots of pictures on Kid Pics Program and saving it as wallpaper on desktop.
