Brussels, Exeter continue to talk garbage By Bonnie Gropp Citizen staff The topic of garbage continues to come up at Brussels council as it's decided what becomes of the waste when the agreement with Morris Twp. ends. On Monday night. Clerk-Treasurer Donna White said that she had sent a letter to Morris stating that council having reviewed the proposed agree ment outlining a cost of $100 per tonne felt it was considerably higher than anticipated. Having reviewed other options, council decided to accept an offer from the Town of Exeter subject for formalizing an agreement. However. White wrote, council would like to continue the current agreement tor commercial business with Morris. It was also asked if Brussels residents could use the site on Saturdays and pay an appropriate fee. White told councillors at their meeting that Morns had responded by stating essentially all or nothing. The Morris clerk also wrote that council would still consider an agreement for all the waste. “It’s a power trip,” said Councillor Joe Seili. “Typical Morns. Basically what they were looking cat was to have us finance Turnberry.” With the amalgamation of Morris and Turnberry at the end of the year. Turnberry will be using the Morris landfill site. White also sent a letter to the county explaining that Brussels was working on an arrangement with Exeter. “I am moving it along as quickly as possible bit I’m afraid time's running out.” There is also investigation into temporary use of the Walton dump.
