Keillor was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (t£TFO). The award was presented at the Federation’s Annual Meeting in Toronto. Honorary Life Memberships, the Federation's highest form of recognition, may be granted to a fnember who has retired from the profession and who has given outstanding service to the Federation at the provincial level. Keiller was a middle school teacher and chair of English in Etobicoke. She also taught ESL to adults for the Toronto, City of York and Etobicoke Boards of Education. She was also an FSL teacher for Grades 1 to 8 for the Huron County Board of Education and also held the position of French co-ordinator for three years. From 1990-97, she was a regional co-ordinator for the Ontario Student Exchange Foundation. Keillor held various offices in federation at the local and provincial levels. She was a member of the Federation of Women Teachers’ Associations of Ontario (FWTAO) Board of Directors (FWTAO is one of ETFO’s predecessor organizations) for 10 years, a member of the executive for four years and served as treasurer, second vice-president, and first vice- president. She was a member of the board of governors of the Ontario Teachers’ Federation from 1994-99. In 1998, Keillor was honoured with a Fellowship in the Ontario Teachers’ Federation. In 1998-99, she held the position of vice-president of ETFO, with the portfolio of political action. She was also a member of the OTF executive and a member of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation board of directors. She earned the first ETFO President’s Award at the ETFO Annual Meeting in August 1999. The Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year CKNX Radio announces 81,000 FAB bursary CKNX Radio’s FAB Bursary will be available to Midwestern Ontario students this fall. The. $1,000 bursary has been created to help further the agricultural education of a young student from Midwestern Ontario. It’s administered by the CKNX Radio farm advisory board, and will be awarded to a student successfully completing the first year of a post­ secondary agriculture-related program who intends to continue with their agricultural education. That student must be a resident of, or native to, the counties of Huron, Bruce, Grey, Perth, North Wellington, North Waterloo, or West Dufferin. The deadline for applications for the 2000 FAB Bursary is Oct. 15. The winner will be selected at the CKNX Radio Farm Advisory Board annual fall meeting in November. . The 1999 CKNX Radio FAB Bursary was awarded to Lucas Thacker of RR 4, Kincardine. Lucas was entering his second year studying for his honours degree in the Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences Program at the University of Guelph when he won the award. The CKNX Radio farm advisory board is a group of representatives from the agribusiness sector from throughout Midwestern Ontario. The board advises CKNX Radio on the issues facing their important industry on a regular basis, including a regular spring and fall meeting each year. Huron-Bruce NDP executive plan drive for membership At the Sept. 14 meeting of the Huron-Bruce NDP riding executive, plans were finalized to launch the 2000 membership drive.
