Judges pick top workbooks at school fair FROM BELGRAVE News from Knox UCW, church service The September meeting of the Belgrave Evening Unit to Knox United Church was held Tuesday at the home of Freda Johnston with 15 members and three visitors present. Leader Lorna Cook welcomed everyone and thanked the hostess. She read a poem by Helen Steiner Rice. Muriel Coultes and Doris Michie presented the worship on Acceptance. In Loving Partnership was sung. Mrs. Michie read scripture from Luke 19, the story of Zaccharus the tax collector. Laura Johnston introduced the guest speaker Dwayne Evans of Belgrave, a corporate service planner for Huron County. He visited Soeul Korea sponsored by Rotary International to develop friendship and cultures with Canada. He showed slides of southern Korea. He was one of four young people housed by host families, many of whom were Buddhist. Five acres is an average farm on which to grow rice and ginseng. They toured a car factory. It was decided to forgo the October meeting and member will attend the North Huron Rally at Brussels. Registration is 6:30 - 7 p.m. Oct 3 at Brussels United Church. Knox Presbyterian Church Belgrave celebrated 136 years of worship on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Cathrine Campbell con­ ducted the service. Guest minister was Rev. Linda Moffatt of Blue vale and Belmore Presbyterian Churches. Don Vair was in charge of the music. Don and Mary sang two lovely duets. A time of fellowship was held at the WI Hall. Plans for the fall zone rally to be held in Belgrave Sept. 28 were finalized. The club will purchase and plant a tree in front of the arena with pro­ ceeds from the euchre tournament held June 23 in conjunction with the millennium celebrations. There will be a shoot party on Sept. 8 and Sept. 22. The next regular meeting will- be Oct. 6 At 1:30 p.m. Marion Calder of Scarborough spent a few days with Betty Irwin.
