Obituaries EDWARD HOWARD QUINN Edward (Ted) Howard Quinn of Queen Street, Blyth, passed away in Clinton on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000. He was 79. Mr. Quinn was born in East Wawanosh Twp on Jan. 11, 1921. He was predeceased by his parents Albert Edward Quinn and the former Martha Howard. Mr. Quinn was employed through­ out his life as a labourer, he was a faithful member of Trinity Anglican Church, Blyth. Mourning his passing most deeply is his beloved wife, the former Florence McLeod. He was the dear brother of Margaret Nesbit of Blyth and was also loved by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was prede­ ceased by two sisters Mary Bailie and Marion Hunking. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m at the Blyth Visitation Centre of the Beattie-Falconer Funeral Horne. The funeral service was held at Trinity Anglican on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Nancy Beale officiating. Guitarist Travis Teed played spe­ cial music for the service. Carrying floral tributes were Alex Nethery and Robert Nesbit. Pallbearers were Dan Vahey, Larry Vahey, David Nesbit, John Nesbit, Ken Hunking and Clarence Bailie. Interment was at Blyth Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to Trinity Anglican Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. KENT WILLIAM SHILLINGLAW Kent William Shillinglaw passed away suddenly at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Friday, Sept. 1, 2000. Kent was in his 24th year and was a resident of Kitchener. He had been employed with Toromont Cat in Cambridge. Kent was the loving son of Bruce and Harriet ShilJinglaw of Londesborough; dear brother of Kevin at home; beloved grandson of Norman and Violet MacLeod of Stratford, and Harriett Shillinglaw of Oakville. He will be sadly missed by aunts and uncles Anne and Bob Pegg of Sutton, Jean Shillinglaw and friend Noel of Oakville and Norman and June MacLeod of Uxbridge. Kent was also survived by many cousins. He will also be sadly missed by special friend Jenn, co-workers and good friends, including Russell and Mark. Kent was predeceased by his grandfather William “Bill” Shillinglaw. At the request of the family crema- tion has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Londesborough United Church on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Ross officiating. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo at 519-745- 8445. HAZEL DALRYMPLE Mrs. Hazel Dalrymple of Blyth passed away in Clinton on Sept. 8 , 2000 in her 88th year. Mrs. Dalrymple was born in Detroit, Michigan on Feb. 22, 1913 to the late Clifford and Vila Draper. Mrs. Dalrymple was the beloved wife of the late William Dalrymple and loving mother of Margaret and Hebo Siertsema of Blyth. She was the cherished grandmother of Jean and Bill Bennett of Lucan, Alan and Dasha Siertsema of Rodney, Ken and Dianne Siertsema of RR3, Blyth and Bruce and Cindy Siertsema of Goderich. She will also be missed by great-grandchildren Blair, Dominic, Jessica, Kasey, Amber, Nicole and Tyler. Mrs. Dalrymple will also be sadly missed by special friends Jim and Irma Mason of Blyth. She was predeceased by three sis­ ters and two brothers. Mrs. Dalrymple was organist at the Presbyterian Church in Belgrave for 50 years and taught piano lessons to many students for 50 years. She was currently teaching her granddaugh­ ter. Visitation was held at the Blyth Visitation Centre, Blyth on Sunday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service was held on Monday, Sept. 11 from the Blyth Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Cathrine Campbell officiated. Flowerbearers were Blair Bennett, Jessica Nethery and Nicole Siertsema. Pallbearers were Bill Bennett, Alan Siertsema, Ken Siertsema, Bruce Siertsema, Murray Siertsema and Sebo Siertsema. Interment was at Blyth Union Cemetery. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Knox Presbyterian Church, Belgrave would be appreci­ ated as expressions of sympathy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home Ltd., Clinton. JEAN GRIFFITHS Mrs. Jean Sommerville (Pate) Griffiths of Huronlea and formerly of Blyth passed away on Sept. 8, 2000 in her 95th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Griffiths and dear mother of Iona and Bruce Solohub of Dallas, Texas, Ian and Marg Griffiths of Windsor, Ula and Bruce Richmond of Blyth, Gwilym and Gwen Griffiths of Wallaceburg and Olwen and Keith Richmond of Blyth. She was the cherished grand­ mother of 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchi Idren, Mrs. Griffiths was predeceased by one grandson. Mrs. Griffiths was bom on Feb. 22, 1906, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Pate. She was a member of the Blyth United Church and the UCW. Visitation was held at the Blyth Visitation Centre on Thursday evening from 7 - 9 p.m. where the funeral service was held on Friday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. Rev. Ernest Dow officiated. Pallbearers were Bill Young, Roy Young, Lyle Youngblut, Boyd Taylor, Murray Musty and Darren Richmond. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. Donations to the CNIB would be appreciated as expressions of sympa­ thy.
