PEOPLE AROUND AUBURN By Kay Lapp Call 526-7264 Open House will be held at John and Heather Durnin’s home on Sept. 9 in honour of Violet Durnin’s Hyth birthday. Violet lived in this commu nity for years and ..was active in United Church work. Of course, some of her family is still here with us. Everyone says Happy Birthday. A community shower is to be held on Friday, Sept. 15 beginning at 8 p.m. in honour of Anita Gross. This is to be at Knox United Church. The opening hymn was For the Fruit of all Creation at Knox United on Sept. 3. Rev. Paul Ross welcomed all and gave announce ments. Scripture was read from Ecclesiastics 2. The son of David thought that he was very wise but then realized that he was vain and far from perfect. In John 17 Jesus spoke of the glory that he had given to Him in his work but felt now that his work was finished. In his sermon Rev. Ross spoke of two golf balls - one showing wear and tear while the other was like new. The latter may be best now, but the other showed that it st'li had some good. Offering was received and pre sented by Elliot Lapp.
