Brussels Livestock report
431 heifers avg. $103 to $105, top $114
Total receipts at Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Aug.
18 were 2,139 head of cattle and 457
lambs and goats.
The fed steers and heifers sold $1
to $2 higher. Cows sold $2 to $3
higher. On Thursday veal sold on a
strong market. Lambs sold under
pressure. All weights of Stockers
sold on a very strong trade.
There were 45 1 fed steers on offer
selling from $103 to $107 with sales
to $115.25. A black steer consigned
by Cunningham Farms, Lucan,
weighing 1,360 lbs. sold to Norval
Meat Packers for $114.50 with their
overall offering of forty steers
averaging 1,419 lbs. selling for an
average of $103.71. Sixty-three
steers consigned by Bill Klages,
Desboro, averaging 1,249 lbs. sold
for an average of $104.53 with a
limo steer weighing 1,110 lbs. sold
to Norwich Packers for $113.50.

Bowles, Brussels, averaging 1,376
lbs. sold for an average of $106.24
with sales to $113.25. Ten steers

for an average of $110.83. A gold

Wescast Ind. hosts open house
The plant is built, the machinery
fired up and on Aug. 26. the public
and invited guests will have the
opportunity to tour the $75 million
state-of-the-art Wescast factory
just east of Wingham on County Rd.

Public tours will run from 9 a.m. to
3 p.m. that day, while the plant is in
full operation.
Along with the tours, there will be
displays, entertainment and
refreshments as well as a giveaway
of something made at the plant.
Local band Ashgrove, which has a
Wescast employee member, will
perform.
An one attending the event should
wear appropriate footwear for safety
reasons. There sfiould be no high
heels, open-toe or sandals.
Visitors are reminded there will be
no parking on-site. A shuttle bus will
transport attendees from the
designated parking lots at the Water
Street Wescast foundry, BIAX,
Royal Homes, F.E. Madill Aluminum and Vinyl and
Secondary School, Ruttan Montgomery’s Comfort Centre.
