Kesley and Janessa Smith were

Team 4 moved in and made some
great shots but Jacob McGavin was
ready and made the saves putting the
ball back into play.
After a switch Evan Smith and

The Brampton based Hoot’s Boyz

the 40 plus Masters Intermediate

The team had a fabulous time in
Nova Scotia and would highly rec

winning 2 at tournament
The Brussels I U-9 squad finished
the season with a bang, winning two
of their final three games.
In the first tournament contest.
Aug. 14, they met Newton.
With Andrew Lindsay sharp in net,
the team kept the game close
throughout the first half, down by
only one goal.
Cam Schlosser worked hard along
the sidelines, keeping the play in
motion while Trevor Wood dis
played skill with a great solo effort
as he attempted to tie the score.
However, the squad could not
maintain the hard play, allowing four
goals in the second half for a 5-0
loss.
This put Brussels up against
Listowel I Saturday morning. It was
an outstanding game as both teams
battle hard for the win.
Evan Ducharme started in net,
shutting out the opponent in the first
half. Wood and Lindsay had a good
rush down field, but their goal
attempt was thwarted. Vanessa Ropp
worked the forward field with a
good shot narrowly missing the net.
Schlosser, Jesse McKinnon and
Annamieka Kerkhof played the side
lines well while Chris Becker on
defense concentrated on slowing the
Listowel attack by booting the ball
out of play.
A shot by Lindsey put Brussels
ahead by one entering the second
half.

Listowel took the lead at 2-1 in the
second, despite great work by
Thomas Johnston at mid-field to turn
the play around.
In the dying seconds of the game,
Randy Zwep came up big, shooting
through a line of defense for the
tying goal as the whistle sounded.
The goal forced a shoot-out by five
players from each squad.
After the first three shooters from
Brussels and Listowel were stopped,
Gavin Bowers beat the netminder to
set up a win. Lindsey grabbed the
shot from the fourth Listowel player
as it sat on the goal line, saving the
victory.
The team moved on to a contest
against Drayton, for another very
evenly-matched, hard-fought game.
Ducharme and Lindsey showed
good passing while Johnston, Becker
and Schlosser were strong on
defense.
With no score going into the sec
ond half, Brussels worked to take the
win. Ducharme set up Zwep who hit
one off the post and Danica Zwep
kicked one just wide.
Jordan Roberts played the back-
field. helping Lindsey protect the
net. Kerkhof worked the ball out of
crowds and Lukas Biesinger stopped
rushes by kicking the ball clear.
When neither team tallied a point.
Brussels’ second shoot-out of the
tournament was set up.
R. Zwep came up bi^again, hit
ting the net on Brussels’ second
attempt, putting them up 1-0.
Lindsey held off Drayton, allow
