In the first tournament contest. Aug. 14, they met Newton. With Andrew Lindsay sharp in net, the team kept the game close throughout the first half, down by only one goal. Cam Schlosser worked hard along the sidelines, keeping the play in motion while Trevor Wood dis played skill with a great solo effort as he attempted to tie the score. However, the squad could not maintain the hard play, allowing four goals in the second half for a 5-0 loss. This put Brussels up against Listowel I Saturday morning. It was an outstanding game as both teams battle hard for the win. Evan Ducharme started in net, shutting out the opponent in the first half. Wood and Lindsay had a good rush down field, but their goal attempt was thwarted. Vanessa Ropp worked the forward field with a good shot narrowly missing the net. Schlosser, Jesse McKinnon and Annamieka Kerkhof played the side lines well while Chris Becker on defense concentrated on slowing the Listowel attack by booting the ball out of play.
