Jamiesons greet for Londesboro United service FROM LONDESBORO Jim and Ramona Jamieson greeted churchgoers to Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Aug. 13. Ushering duties were fulfilled by Betty Dale and Mary Vandermoelen. Rev. Paul Ross's theme for the service was What's Good About Failing? Failure in an endeavour - large or small - does not make the person a failure, he said. One cannot appreciate success unless one has experienced defeat. Comfort can be found in acknowledging that one has done one's best and in realizing that personal bests differ. He said, there are times when everyone fails at living a truly Christian lifestyle. Christ and his dis ciples shared this feeling of discour agement. Being a golfer. Rev. Ross explained that in spite of the bad shots he makes he continues to play the game. Rather, the really great shots he makes keep him going on to the next tee. From the failure comes learning for the next time when suc cess brings rejoicing. Relevant scripture passages were II Corinthians 13: 5-KJ and Mark 6: l-6. In the Mark passage Christ fails to find belief and respect in his hometown of Nazareth. The flowers at the front of the sanctuary were placed by the family of Carl Longman. The sympathy of the congregation and the community is extended to his family. The people mentioned in the ‘getting to know your community' quiz are updated versions of that. Their interests are helping the family to put a little something in the cookie jar for emer gencies, or to have a little ‘pin money’. Can anyone explain that lit tle saying for me?
