Livestock for the week ending Aug.
11 were 2.085 head of cattle and 488
lambs and goats.
All weights of stocker cattle sold
actively. On Thursday veal and
lambs sold on a good strong market.
Fed steers and heifers sold on a good
strong active trade. Cows sold on a
good steady market.
There were 494 fed steers on offer
selling from $100 to $105 with sales
to $112.50. One limousin steer
consigned by Phaires Kraemer.
Paisley, weighing 1,380 lbs. sold to
Holly Park Meat Packers for $ 112.50
with his overall offering of thirteen
steers averaging 1.418 lbs. selling
for an average of $102.70. Ten steers
consigned by Lauderlea Farms,
Listowel, averaging 1,375 lbs.
selling for an average of $104.54
with a Hrnousin steer weighing 1.2x5
lbs. sold to Norwich Packers for
$110.

There were five bulls on offer
selling from $64 to $72 with sales to
$86.50. One limousin bull consigned
by Ralph Huettlin, Chesley,
weighing 1,935 lbs. sold for $86.50.

lbs. sold for $74.
There were 212 veal on offer
selling. Beef sold $110 to $168;
Holstein, $95 to $139; Plain
Holstein, $70 to $85. Three veal
consigned by John Richardson,
Harriston, averaging 618 lbs. sold
for an average of $137.62 with sales
to $161. Five veal consigned by Bill
DeVos Jr., Bluevale, averaging 680
lbs. sold for an average of $116.21
with sales to $139. A bwf veal
consigned by Jim McGee, Wingham,
weighing 720 lbs, sold for $118.50.
Lambs, under 50 lbs. sold $117.50;
50 - 64 lbs., $ 122.50 to $ 180; 65 - 79
lbs., $120 to $155; 80- 94 lbs., $116

Sheep sold $52 to $72.

Steers, under 400 lbs. sold $ 180 to

Farmers were in the fields harvesting wheat and other grain crops this past week as warm
temperatures and sunny skies provided excellent conditions for harvest.

Beef club
prepares
to judge
The Brussels, Belgrave Beef Club
held its fifth meeting on July II at
7:30 p.m. at Kim Higgins. The club
went through everything that they
were gomg to have to judge at the
judging competition on Aug. 8 in
Seaforth.
The I0 classes consist of
dairy cows, market lambs, hay,
photography, chinchillas, beef,
poultry, fruit and vegetables,
crafts and the l.D. and general 4-H
quiz.
The members talked about the
different categories they should be
put in for example size, clearness of
colour, density of fur, and body
structure.
