Last Saturday was a busy day in Cranbrook. Wade Sheppard married April Riebling on the lawn of the residence of Laura and Rob Sheppard. Morgan and Gage were flowergirls and expertly scattered flowers on the bride’s path. They’did very well. The weather co-operated and it stayed dry during the ceremo ny. Then the wedding party of fami ly and friends moved to the Cranbrook Community Centre and everyone enjoyed a wonderful feast with dancing until the early hours. The Wiens’ held their annual beef roast. Anticipating rains they had erected a large tent to shield their guests in case the deluges came. For their party the weather held as well and it remained dry. By the way because it was John Wiens’ 50th birthday celebration as well, it was not only the beef getting roasted. John received some very peculiar presents with good nature and in good humour. As of the first of August the rental rates of the Cranbrook Hall will increase to $50 for the upstairs per day and $25 for the downstairs for the day. An equal amount is to be deposit ed as guarantee that the hall will be cleaned after each event. This deposit will be returned when the hall has been left in satisfactory con dition. HOW DO MOSQUITOES BITE? WHY DO BITES ITCH? Mosquitoes are a major summer nuisance for kids. Here's how the pesky summer vampire zooms in for its blood meal. The mosquito hones in on people attracted by move ment, colour, carbon dioxide and body temperature. The mosquito's mouth is made up of bristles and tubes. The bristles first poke a tiny hole in the skin. Then saliva flows out of one tube and the blood is sucked up through another. The proteins the mosquito leaves behind cause the skin to itch.
