II - 19. The former general council was held three years ago in Alberta. Two commissioners elected to attend from Huron Perth Presbytery are Rev. Marilyn Carter, Elmville - Thames Road Church and Shirley Dawe, a member of Exeter United Church. Rev. Bill Phipps from Calgary, Alberta will be retiring as moderator and a new moderator will be elected. The list of nominees to be consid­ ered for the top position in the United Church of Canada are in The Observer. This was submitted by Bill Coultes lay delegate to Presbytery. Rev. Ethel Miner Clare welcomed the congregation. The Old Testament reading was taken from II Samuel 7: l -14 and the Psalm selection was 89: 20-37. The children’s hymn was Teach Me God to Wonder. The children's story was entitled God in Between. Julie Van Camp was in charge of the nursery. The senior choir sang Keep Me Safe accompanied by Elizabeth Procter. The Gospel lesson was taken from Mark 6: 30-34, 54-56. Rev. Miner Clare’s sermon was entitled Come Away. Don Procter and Ken Procter took up the offering. Rev. Miner Clare will be on holi­ days from Aug. 2 - Aug. 23. Rev. Cathrine Campbell (887-9831) is available for pastoral emergencies. Explore the life of a child in 1914 with a particular emphasis on ‘fun’ and leisure time. Games and toys, as well as other leisure pursuits such as girl’s and boy’s handiwork, will be explored. Visitors will be able to experience firsthand many of these activities. Horse drawn wagon rides, games and fun will round out this fun-filled family day.
