FALLS RESERVE CONSERVATION AREA AND Brussels U-9 soccer squad settles for tie against Elma The Brussels U-9 I squad had to settle for their first tie of the season when Elma II visited July 24. The home team started well when Trevor Wood went in alone for the first netter of the match. Wood and Evan Ducharme were thwarted with good saves by the Elma netminder before Ducharme took a shot for the side of the net, kicking across the front and in the far side. Ducharme took over goalie duties from Andrew Lindsay in the second half, making some excellent stops. However, the constant push by Elma resulted in two unanswered goals. The first came on a cross net shot with the second sailing over Ducharme’s head. “All the players worked hard,” said Coach Steve Bowers.
