Walkerburn Club hosts PEOPLE AROUND AUBURN FROM AUBURN community picnic A very successful picnic was held at Blyth Lion’s Park pavilion by the Walkerburn Club. People of the community plus former members had been invited and there was a good turnout. Vera Penfound welcomed everyone for the day and Elliott Lapp led in the singing of grace. An excellent meal was enjoyed by everyone. After dinner everyone had to introduce themselves. We were delighted to meet a few new folks plus seeing families growing up. All then enjoyed visiting everyone. Audrey Boonstoppel was a super balloon lady and made numerous balloons in all shapes and sizes for the children to enjoy. They also made use of the swings and slides, etc. The children also swung a hammer and drove nails into a hardwood block. Hard work but they did a good job. There were guests from Wingham and even as far away as London. Walkerbum Club was pleased and trust that there will be another picnic in the future. Note: Before leaving a child’s jacket was discovered. It will be at Lloyd and Vera Penfound’s home. Their phone number is 526- 7553. By Kay Lapp Call 526-7264 second, third and fifth prize. Not bad! Ell Lapp’s team was the third place team. They had to play an extra end for it. Ell and Kay Lapp enjoyed Thursday, July 20 as guests of Maurice and Maureen Bean for dinner and the evening. Memories of past days were shared in their conversation. OPP investigate collision FOUR TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER THREE VEHICLE CRASH - W. WAWANOSH TWP. Whether you have a backyard or a balcony, when spring arrives, flowers are a part of the plans for that space. Just as we all are in need of more sunshine for our flowers and a little less rain I happened on this quote attributed to one Joseph Addison: Cheerios dine at Bayfield Village Inn The members of the Cheerio Club dined at the Bayfield Village Inn on Wednesday, July 19. Then an enjoyable afternoon was spent at the summer home of Genevieve Allen at Pine Lake. Roll Cali was answered with words of wisdom from poems or with humorous quotes. The gift of the month was donated by Edythe Beacom and won by Geraldine Dale. Stories and cards filled the afternoon. The net meeting, Aug. 16 will be at Dorothy Johnston’s home. “What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity.” The next time you are in Blyth, take time to stroll both sides of main street and enjoy the quote plaques in each of the planters. Congratulations to Blyth for a unique and appropriate touch for a theatre town! Is a wedding in the offing for you, either as one of the principals or as a guest?
