Having resided in communities from northern Ontario to Newfoundland, Rev. Ethel Miner Clare said she was delighted to learn that she would be moving to Huron County, her birthplace and home for many years. Born in Clinton and raised in Fordwich for the early years, Rev. Miner Clare comes to the Belgrave congregation, with husband Sanford, from Wallaceburg. Having raised four daughter, worked in hospitals and been a dia betes educator, Rev. Miner Clare came to the ministry later in life though it surprised none of her friends. "They thought this is where I should be," she smiles. It was the support from friends and family over the years which enabled her to succeed. “Otherwise I could not do it," she says. After studying for three and a half years during which time she com muted to Toronto, she did an intern- Longview, Black Diamond and sur rounding regions. A trip to Lethbridge Crow’s Nest Pass and Brooks was also enjoyed as well as a tour of Cayley Hutterite Colony and the Bar U Ranch. The community extends a wel come to Mike, Debbie and Kendall Jardin who are moving in to the vil lage soon. Nicholas Irwin of Kitchener spent a week’s holidays at his grandmoth er’s Betty Irwin. Sincere sympathy is extended from the community of friends and neighbours to David and Elaine Scott in the recent loss of David’s mother Jeannette Scott. Sincere sympathy is also extended to the families of Sarah Anderson in her recent passing. May thoughts ship with a three-point charge in Toronto. She will continue her stud ies, focusing on needs in rural com munities. Having asked for a rural ministry. Rev. Miner Clare says she is delight ed to be in Belgrave. “It is a wonder ful place to be, the community has been welcoming and patient and the peojJle are delightful.” One of Rev. Miner Clare's first duties to perform after her arrival in late June was a funeral. She describes this as a gift because she had the opportunity to meet the won derful woman before she passed away. Rev. Miner Clare also sees her arrival in the community as a chance to build a new history with the joined congregations of Belgrave United and Calvin Brick. “It is difficult for those who have lost their church home,” she says. “Belgrave welcomes them and we can start anew as a body of Christ.” The ministry belongs to the peo- and prayers be with these families. Congratulations to Shaun Walker, son of Jack and Lynn Walker who graduated with honours from the University of Guelph Knox United Church will be closed as a holiday on Sunday, July 30. In August Knox United Church will join the Presbyterians for their service at 9:30 a.m. Sympathy is extended to Elizabeth and George Procter and family on the passing of Elizabeth’s mother. Remember the family in your prayers. We are pleased that the Rev. John Roberts has returned home again after spending a month in Clinton and University hospitals. His friends and neighbours wish him continued good health. pie, she says. She encourages them to use their gifts and share the jour ney. She is not there to do it all. She hopes the congregation will talk and tell her what they like and don't like. Glad to be in Belgrave Rev. Ethel Miner Clare is delighted to be settling in Belgrave as the new minister for the Belgrave United church. “I can learn more from the people by listening to their stories. I hope this is a long-term (arrangement),” Sanford Clare, a physician, will be seeking his place in the medical community as the couple settles in.
