Overwhelming response
The Auburn Community Centre was overflowing with young and old alike as the community
hosted a fundraising barbecue for Jesse Wesselink and his family Friday. As well as plenty of
great food, there was entertainment and dancing to fill the evening.
Morris changes meeting dates

Morris council will hire Andy
McBride of Maitland Engineering
Services to prepare a report for
South Part Lot 13, Cone. 5.
A petition from Wayne and
Barbara Fear and Clarence and Jane
White discussed July 4, asked that
drainage be provided for the land.
The proposed work would be
subject to approval by the Maitland
Valley Conservation Authority and
the Department of Fisheries and
Oceans. Council requested the work
be completed in 2000.
A request for maintenance on the
Man charged
after two-vehicle
collision in
Seaforth
Police were called to a two-
vehicle collision on Seaforth's Main
Street, July 14, around 8:45 p.m.
The attending officer found that
one driver had alcohol on I his
breath and a roadside test was given.
After failing the test, the driver
was arrested for driving a motor
vehicle with over 80 mgs.
Later tests showed he was well
over the legal limit.
A 69-year-old man from
Egmondville has been charged and
will attend court in Goderich on
Sept. I I.
Branch Little drain was accepted.
In response to a request from
Frank Procter, a motion was passed
allowing five homes at the easterly
end of Brandon and Hamilton
Streets to connect into the Belgrave
well at a cost of $500 per house plus
all hook-up costs.
A public meeting to discuss a
zoning amendment for Ross and
Barb Nichol and 9-1-1 will be held
Aug. 2.
Council decided that the debris
from the demolished Walton Library
would not be given away as it would
take too much extra work. All the
debris was hauled away
Next month’s council meetings
will be Aug. 2 and 23.
A letter of response will be sent to
Jean Kennedy of Belgrave stating

is no regulation for licensing cats.
The membership fee of $60 for the
Huron County Road Supervisors
Association was approved.
A donation of $100 was given to
Huron County Farm and Safety to
help offset the cost of the slow
moving vehicle sign program.
Payment of $50 for a car rental for
the Belgrave millennium parade was
approved.
Council agreed for the township to
enter into a service contract with
Munisoft for hardware and software.
General and road accounts in the
amounts of $146,366.63 and
$60,639.78 were approved for
payment.

A party was held to celebrate
Norman McClinchey’s 65th birthday
on July 14 and a great time was had
by everyone. The Wandering Two
provided the music for the
programme. The evening closed
with a delicious luncheon that was
completed with birthday cake and
ice cream.
Guests were present from
Mitchell, Lucknow, California, St.
Augustine, Blyth and Aubum.

Brussels to unveil mural
July 28 will be a big day in
Brussels when the huge mural
depicting the village’s history is
unveiled.
Council was told at the July ll
meeting that plans are in the works
for an unveiling ceremony and
fundraising barbecue that day.***
Permission was given for the
establishment of a 30’ easement for a
storm sewer on the McKay property.

reported that the 9-l-l numbers are
going up slowly, but that some
residents are painting numbers on
buildings. This is not acceptable
under the village bylaw as numbers

Lapps attended St. Andrew’s
Presbyterian Church.
They had choirs from Galt
Collegiates. Their minister for the
day was their senior pastor who
gave an excellent sermon. He spoke
about Thomas - Christ’s doubting
disciple. Thomas showed that the
wonders of doubt brings faith - he
thoroughly believed and followed
his Lord.
The music was special. There was
a baptism and the baby girl gave the
congregation a beautiful smile after
being returned to her mother.
One realizes the enjbyment a
person receives from radio and TV
when you think of the endless things
that can be seen and heard. We do
know that God is always listening
and eager to help.
