Brussels U-ll Aces
edge Listowel 1-0
The Brussels U-ll Aces, coached
by Bill King and Rita Bowers,
defeated Listowel 1-0.
The Aces came out strong in the
first half with William King taking
the opening kick well up in the field.
Trevor McArter and Jodi McIntosh
did some great passing and rushing
to get to the net.
Playing halfback Kari Bell, Jordan
Campbell and Christopher Barton
helped keep the ball in the Listowel
end with some great over head kicks.
When the ball did. get into the
Brussels end the defensive team of
Bradley Hill and Devon Warwick
blocked any attempts and quickly
passed the ball to the forward line of
Lindsay Watson, Laura Bowers and
Andrew Van Vliet. The speed of this
line proved too much for the
Listowel team and they drove to the
net with half backs Travis Jutzi,
Kyle Griffiths and Kristen McArter
passing and checking up the field.
Defencemen Ami Schimanski and
Brandon Kellington teamed well to
keep the ball in the Listowel end.
Goaltender James Roberts easily
blocked the few shots that came his
way.
The lone goal came just before
half time with a long high kick from
defenceman Brandon Kellington.
Hullett gets close
Though their Goderich Twp. oppo
nents jumped to an early lead the
Hullett Squirt ball team fought back
to make for an interesting match-up,
June 28.
Down 6-1 after three. Hullett tal
lied seven in the top of the fourth for
the lead. However. Goderich hit for
three.
Hullett pushed seven across in the
final two at bats, carrying a 15-13
lead into the bottom of the sixth.
They could not hold on though,
allowing Goderich to score eight.
Eric Radford smacked a homer in
the fourth.
Sharing pitching duties were Kody
Reid, Anthony Wilts, Radford,
Derek Dolmage, Julian Bolinger and
Joel Salverda.
Blyth loses squeaker
The Blyth Mosquitoes were
downed 2-1 by the hometown
Lucknow soccer squad, June 29.
Brett Bean scored Blyth's lone net-
ter, with assistance from Darcey
Cook and Jacob Rouw.
This was a very close game with
Blyth suffering their first loss of the
season. They scored first, but Luck
now showed great perseverance in
battling back to take the lead and the
win said Coach Steve Cook.
