The second place team of Ila and Carmen Pollock had 73 points and two teams tied for third place with 69 points, John and Iola Subject and Irma Brighton and Kay Hesselwood. The lone hand winners were Ed Stewart and Helen Dobson. Decoration Sunday was held on June 25 at the Brussels Cemetery. Grand Patriarch Mel McCutcheon and his wife Lois accompanied by Doug and Patricia Wilson went to the ceremonies at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier that is held on the first Sunday in May each year in Arlington Va. This is a weekend of activities including tours on Saturday and a banquet on Saturday night. On this Saturday night, Lady Pat Wilson who is the soloist for the International Association Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant, at the request of the Arlington Committee, played dinner music while those at the banquet enjoyed their dinner. On Sunday she also sang the national anthems and two solos at the Rotunda. At the ceremony of lay ing the wreath Grand Patriarch Mel McCutcheon and Grand Outside Sentinel Matriarch Lois McCutcheon placed a wreath for the province of Ontario. They were escorted by Lady Pat and Patriarch Dough Wilson SGL Representative. Grand Patriarch Mel and his wife Lois and Bill and Gertie Kellington were also present at the ceremonies at the laying of the wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown. Soldier in Ottawa. The laying of the wreath by the Grand Encampment and the Grand Ladies Encampment Auxiliary of Ontario was done by Grand Patriarch Mel McCutcheon and Grand Matriarch Gladys Hopper. The Department Council and The Department Association also placed a wreath at the Tomb. This was done by Lady Vi Higgs APP, Lady Myrna Martin AP and Maj. Gen. Tony Martin Dept, of Comm, of Ontario. There were some firsts at this cer emony. The Unknown Soldier was placed in the Tomb just the Sunday before so this was the first time any one has laid a wreath at the tomb. This is also the first time that the other units of the Order in Ontario have laid wreaths. It is also the first time that a juris diction outside of Canada laid a wreath. This was done by the state of Michigan. The ones who laid the wreath for Michigan were Grand Master Glen Sanger, Dept. Comm. Brig. Gen. Joseph Waterbury and President Edith Swenson of the Department Association Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant. The Committee at Ottawa was pre- . sented with a proposal that the General Military Council, be asked under the auspices of the Sovereign Grand Lodge, to present the Grand Decoration of Chivalry to the Unknown Soldier in the year 2001. The Committee has agreed to this and this is now being pursued by members of the Department Council and the Committee. If this is passed by General Military Council and the War Committee of the Government, there could be a good turn out at the next year's ceremonies in June. Plan now to attend the ceremonies on June 1-3, in Ottawa. Helen and Jim Duncan of Russell Manitoba and Larry Duncan of Yarrow, BC spent holidays with their parents Ross and Kaye Duncan.
