Rev. speak of wondrous love FROM AUBURN The Knox United congregation met at Knox United on June 18 and Nancy * Park was the organist. Rev. Paul Ross welcomed all. Scripture from Deuteronomy 6 was read by Rev. Ross. This speaks of God’s wondrous love and that the words should be taught to children and followed by everyone. Then from Luke 9 Jesus told followers to remember that the least can also be great by following God’s word. Rev. Ross continued with a portion from Luke 18. Rev. Ross’s sermon was Those were the Days and The New Curriculum. This was on how Sunday Schools were started to teach and keep children from troubles. Ethel and Daryl Ball attended the graduation of Craig Machan on June 10. Keith Machan went with them. This was held at Sandford Fleming College at Lindsay. Craig graduated in Park and Forest Recreation. Ila Cunningham hosted a family shower Saturday evening for her recently married niece Susan Botschauer. This was for relatives only and she received a number of lovely gifts. The Silver Tops have received an invitation to a Strawberry Social at Goderich Place at 1:30 p.m. on June 22. The Ball family are hosts for relatives from Virginia, U.S.A. The Silver Tops will attend a strawberry social at Fordwich United on June 27. The community offers their deepest sympathy to the families of Casey and John Verwey on the death of their mother, Betsey Verwey. She will be sadly missed by everyone as she has been active in numerous things through the years. Wawanosh approves rezoning for new business A public session was held in conjunction with the June 6 meeting of West Wawanosh council where a rezoning amendment for Part of Lot 13, Cone. 14 was discussed. It was proposed that the property be changed from residential-low density to residential-low density, special zones to allow the operation of a farm equipment sales and service business. With changes to the proposed bylaw, council approved the amendment. Applicant Ron Kleukens will operate the business on land owned by Robert Campbell. The business will have no more than seven employees, excluding the owner, will have no more than four pieces of farm equipment in front of the accessory building for display Hullett Twp. hunting blind smashed On June 7 just before 2 p.m. damage was reported just off of Hydro Line in Hullett Twp. A person entered a parking lot at the west end of the Hullett Conservation Park to find a handicapped duck hunting blind had been destroyed. The blind was set up next to the parking lot and was pulled apart. Some of the pieces had been thrown into the pond next to the blind. The person finding the damage met four youths inside a vehicle that tied the scene quickly and refused to stop for the man. Support was given to a petition from Lakeshore asking the federal government to take immediate steps in support of Canadian agriculture. Short term support would increase the safety net program to the level in keeping with subsidies provided by the United States.
