West Wawanosh council
hears from 3 delegations
Three delegations met with West
Wawanosh councillors, May 16, in
an attempt to find solutions for their
questions.
Ed and Josey Shetler asked if the
“holding” restriction could be
removed from the zoning of their
property in St. Helens as no
development of the land is permitted
under the circumstances.
A bylaw will be prepared to deal
with the zoning.
Kathi Nicholson and John Newell
discussed a Hooding problem on
their property in St. Helens at Plan
300, Lots 1 to 3 Part Lot 18 and Part
Lot 19 on. May 12. There was water
in the basement and damage to
windows and other items.
They were advised that Road
Superintendent George Humphries
was in the process of replacing the
culvert on Cone. 10 which should
alleviate some of the flooding on
their property.
John Bos questioned council about
the maintenance of Cone. 2.
While council said all roads
receive the same level of
maintenance, it would be a huge
undertaking to upgrade the road. The
road would have to be widened and
raised 18 inches. There are no funds
for such a project.
The township will enter into an
agreement with the Huron County
Health Unit for sewage system
management. It will be maintained at
the same level as Ashfield and
Colbome Twps.
The budget for 2000, in the
amount of $842,202 was approved.
For municipal purposes, $215,612
will be raised through taxes.
The municipal portion of the
severance application fee, $50, will
be returned to Henry Shetler.
General accounts, in the amount of
$3,262.05, were approved for
payment.
