United hosts award, Lynda explained that the Sunday School program called Journeying Together focuses on the teaching of Jesus and runs in a three-year cycle. Therefore when the children study the same stories, etc. they do so at a more advanced level. She also shared with everyone that Londesboro United Church has a growing Sunday School thanks in part to the dedicated teachers. The kindergarten class has had six children and the Junior class, seven this past year. Attending the intermediate class in 1999-2000 were seven children while nine young people made up the senior class. All the children have been a part of the junior choir and with the help of Barb Bosman entertained Sunday, May 28 was Promotion and Award Sunday at Londesboro United Church. The service centred around the Sunday School. Greeters were Gordon Radford and Mary East. The ushers were Rick and Brenda Konarski. Lynda Horbanuik, church school superintendent, conducted the service assisted by Sunday School teachers and attendees. A message titled Why Go to Church based on Psalm 122 was given by Deb Stevenson. Sherry Postma presented a story about Sunday School lessons. M. J. Everyone was invited to share lunch after the service and watch the children enjoy a few games. Sunday School has concluded now until early September. However a junior congregation program for youngsters begins on June 4. A youth group versus adults ball game is set for Saturday, June 3 at 2 p.m. at the Londesboro ball diamond. Vandals hit dealership During the week of May 14 the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority contacted police to report severe damage to the support beams at the Bluevale dam. The property damage is estimated at over $4,000. Investigators ’ who attended the scene report that an ATV was used by the suspects to access the area. As well several picnic tables have been damaged, along with the pavilion and lighting area experiencing considerable mischief. On May 24 at approximately 11:45 a.m. damage was reported to a vehicle at Bridge Motors on County Road 86 in Morris Twp. The owner of the dealership told police that overnight someone removed two white plastic door moldings and one hood ornament from a used 1989 Ford Mustang GT red in colour. The vehicle was left sitting in the dealership lot facing the road. Notify the OPP or call Crime Stoppers if you have any information to assist police with this investigation. Over the barrier A Hullett Central Public School senior girl clears the bar as she competed in the high jump at the school’s track and field meet last Thursday. Students compete in •wet weather The school did manage to run their track and field events on Thursday of last week despite the cold and soggy conditions. The regional meet in Seaforth is today, May 31. As the culmination of their studies on life in the past, pupils from Grades 3 and 4 will visit Fanshawe Pioneer Village in London on Friday, June 2. All grades will be participating in this year’s Spring concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7. Furniture did arrive that day at the former home of Wayne and Temara Weber. Commitments in Hamilton, their former place of residence, and the birth of a new grandchild delayed the mov- ing in of new owners, Arthur and Barbara Lester, untjl well into May. Arthur (from England originally) and Barbara (from Ireland) arrived in Canada in June of 1967. They had been checking out various pieces of real estate in this area for several months before finding just what they wanted here in Londesboro. The Lesters plan to use the workshop behind the house for their upholstery business. Barbara Lester Upholstery has had a window display at Rivett’s in Goderich for about a year.
