The sermon was entitled Putting Out into Deep Water. Rev. Dow spoke of the fears associated with swimming and how to deal with them. He then talked of how Jesus asked the disciples to put out into the deep water. As they went along, they found that their trust and support kept fhem safe. “He can become OUR life jacket, too,” Rev. Dow said. He also talked of how the ship was an ancient symbol of the church. He asked why people are so reluctant to leave what they know and go out into deeper water? The congregation was told that their survival depends on the state of their life jacket. How much faith do we have in the ability of Jesus to save us if things are rough?” * M ■/-<- m milii Marriage renewal, UCW topic Wayne Wheeler, Bill Howson, John Uyl and Mary Lou Stewart col­ lected the offering. Ushers were Bill Howson and Wayne Wheeler. The Way Band provided music throughout the service. Debbie Root was in charge of the nursery. For the children’s time Rev. Ernest Dow talked about obedience. The gospel lesson was a dramatic reading by Tammy Root, Candi Bearss, Ashley Howson and Mark The Blyth UCW met in the church parlour on May 23 at 8 p.m. Brenda Brooks and Lenora Davidson gave the worship on the theme Marriage Renewal. Sarah and Abraham were the beginning of the family line to Jesus. There was a famine, so Abraham and Sarah went to live in Egypt. Abraham told Sarah to tell the Pharaoh she was Abraham’s sister, so the Pharaoh would not kill him. The Pharaoh took her as a wife. God was displeased ■ go wrong,” she said, and Abraham and Sarah left. Diane Ferguson presided for the business. As everyone is aware numerous hospitals are on alert concerning the E.Coli outbreak in Walkerton, that now has made the National News. Deaths have occurred and many are in critical condition.
